PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drew Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Garkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Drew Jitsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 20 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Garkov!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jitsu shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Garkov defends it nicely.
Garkov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jitsu dives in and grabs Garkov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Garkov pushes down on Jitsu's head and hops out.
Garkov throws a right and a left that Jitsu avoids nicely.
Jitsu slips a jab and a cross from Garkov.
Garkov wants to clinch up but Jitsu keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jitsu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Garkov fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Garkov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jitsu.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drew Jitsu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Garkov misses with a jab, cross combination.
Garkov misses with a wild combination.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Garkov lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Garkov.

Garkov closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Garkov tries to clinch but Jitsu moves out of range.
Jitsu dodges the punch combination from Garkov.
Sergei Garkov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Garkov throws a series of punches but Jitsu avoids them all with ease.
Garkov slaps away a takedown attempt from Jitsu, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Garkov misses with a combination

and Jitsu counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jitsu looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Garkov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jitsu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jitsu seems to be looking for submissions.
Jitsu stops Garkov from getting back to his feet.
Garkov wants to control but Jitsu is keeping busy.

Jitsu is working for a kimura but Garkov is defending it quite comfortably.

Garkov wants to get back to his feet.
Garkov is trying to control but can't.

Jitsu is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jitsu is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Garkov wants to improve his position but Jitsu is controlling well.
Garkov wants to control but Jitsu is keeping busy and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Garkov manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Garkov is on top in guard.


Jitsu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Garkov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Garkov landing with the ground and pound.
Garkov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jitsu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jitsu might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Jitsu is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Garkov frees his head nicely. Oh but Jitsu has switched to an armbar! Garkov is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Drew Jitsu!
