Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mustafiq Rana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kashmire Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mustafiq Rana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kashmire Gates!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rana lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gates backs up against the cage.
Rana scores with a takedown into Gates's guard.
Gates can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rana controls the pace.
Gates is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rana is aware though and is defending well.
Gates has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rana is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gates.
Rana working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Rana has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gates!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rana really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Gates.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
You can see the frustration on Gates's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Rana keeps control of the position easily here as Gates tries to buck him off.
Gates is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Gates wants to escape the position.
Gates is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Rana off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Rana is persistently looking for the submission but Gates is defending it well.
Gates is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Rana.

Rana is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Gates with him. Gates is trying to defend but Rana has an arm under the chin now! Gates grimaces and is forced to tap out!
