Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Lion! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, The Bull! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Hugh Johnson and Chris Dean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bull doesn't manage to clinch there - Lion circles away.
Bull takes the fight into the clinch. Bull comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Bull is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lion is defending well for now. Bull using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Bull crunches a lovely knee into Lion's ribcage. Lion avoids the elbow strike from Bull, against the cage.
Lion pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Bull tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lion paws at him with a jab and circles away. Bull moves into range and clinches up with Lion. Bull should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Bull is defending well against a takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lion takes a knee to the side of the body. Bull lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Lion dodges an elbow strike from Bull.
Lion manages to pull guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Bull wants to stand but Lion has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Lion is adopting a defensive guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lion keeping moving, preventing Bull from controlling successfully. Bull is posturing up here but Lion has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Bull tries to roll out but it's too tight and Bull has to tap! Slick submission there by Lion!
