Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Carneiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dereck Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carneiro comes to the cage accompanied by The Rasmus - In the Shadows. Lewis has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dereck Lewis! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carneiro shoots in looking for a takedown but Lewis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carneiro's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Lewis feints the counter takedown. Carneiro throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lewis's waist but Lewis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carneiro off to one side. Lewis tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Carneiro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lewis as he jumps to the side. Lewis feints the counter takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Carneiro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carneiro forces Lewis back against the cage and clinches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carneiro manages to break the clinch.

Carneiro seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lewis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Carneiro is trying to work for a kimura but Lewis is defending well.
Carneiro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lewis keeps working. Carneiro seems to be looking for submissions.

Carneiro tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Carneiro lands with some strikes. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The referee warns Lewis that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Dereck Lewis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Daniel Carneiro is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Lewis is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
