The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bowers pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Walker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Bowers avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Walker. Bowers is trying to improve his position. Bowers regains half guard. Bowers flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Walker has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Bowers defend it? Walker steps over the head and cranks it - Bowers is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Walker!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Matt Walker!
