Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Gilmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua Hooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Gilmore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Hooper!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gilmore gets tackled into the cage by Hooper. Hooper maintains the clinch.
Hooper pushes Gilmore back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Hooper pushes Gilmore back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Gilmore misses with a body punch.
Hooper stalls.

Hooper has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Gilmore regains guard immediately.


Gilmore is rocked!
Hooper engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hooper is looking to work some ground and pound but Gilmore has wrist control.
Gilmore will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hooper gets to his feet. Gilmore looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Hooper tries to bum rush Gilmore with a series of wild strikes but Gilmore uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gilmore went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Hooper closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hooper manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Gilmore wants to stand but Hooper is controlling his posture from full guard.
Hooper controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hooper looking for a sweep. Not yet Hooper, not yet.
Hooper bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gilmore's guard.

Hooper slips nicely into half guard.

Gilmore trying to control here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hooper not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Hooper stalling.
Hooper throws a strike but Gilmore avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Gilmore is breathing heavily.
Hooper is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hooper working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Gilmore knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hooper on the ground.
Hooper controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gilmore really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hooper cracks a nice hook into Gilmore's ribs.

Hooper closes the distance and clinches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hooper lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Oh Gilmore is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hooper lands a right hand.

Hooper pulls Gilmore into guard.
Gilmore has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hooper doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Hooper lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Gilmore avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joshua Hooper dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Gilmore tries to keep at a distance but Hooper has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hooper has Gilmore pushed against the cage.
Hooper is pushing Gilmore up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Hooper is leaning against Gilmore and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hooper turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hooper decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gilmore to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hooper throws a right and a left that Gilmore avoids nicely.

Hooper moves into range and clinches up with Gilmore.
Hooper lands a big right hand that drops Gilmore! The killer instinct kicks in and Hooper finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Hooper!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joshua Hooper!
