Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bob Hetfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hetfield comes to the cage accompanied by Symphaty for the Devil. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bob Hetfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Josh Mir!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hetfield has a takedown stuffed.

Mir is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hetfield's half guard.
Mir thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hetfield keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hetfield looks like he's trying to stand up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hetfield is trying to stand.
Hetfield regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Mir.
Mir throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hetfield works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hetfield stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mir doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Hetfield thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hetfield fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mir avoids it really well and circles away.

Hetfield shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hetfield was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mir tries to bench press Hetfield off him but Hetfield keeps the position.

Hetfield is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mir knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Hetfield is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mir is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That was a close round but I would say that Bob Hetfield will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Hetfield shoots in and drives through. Mir sprawls well.

Mir might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hetfield haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Nice sprawl there from Mir as Hetfield shoots in.

Mir shoots for a takedown but Hetfield saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Mir throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hetfield was covering up waiting for the punch and Mir finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mir has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mir throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hetfield to regain full guard.
Mir postures up in Hetfield's guard and throws a big left but Hetfield blocks it.

Mir tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The strikes coming from Mir are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Mir tries to move to full mount but Hetfield actually manages to regain half guard.
Mir is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hetfield is staying active underneath Mir, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hetfield is trying to stand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mir rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Hetfield counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mir won't be happy with that.
Hetfield is looking to take a break and control but Mir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Josh Mir showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Mir must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Horrible takedown attempt by Mir or perhaps it was just good defense by Hetfield, which made it look bad.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mir accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Hetfield changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mir tries to avoid it but Hetfield manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mir to the ground. Mir escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mir tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Hetfield closes the distance and clinches up with Mir, looking for a takedown. Hetfield pushes Mir against the cage but Mir circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bob Hetfield. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mir dives in and grabs Hetfield's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hetfield pushes down on Mir's head and hops out.

Mir shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Josh Mir comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mir has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
