The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to keep at a distance but Scherer has taken the fight into the clinch.
Scherer stalls.
Silva tries to break the clinch but Scherer is controlling the position.
Scherer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Silva has him pressed against the cage.

Silva tries for a takedown but Scherer manages to get underhooks.

Silva jumps guard but Scherer stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Scherer has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

As Silva receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Scherer away and this one is in the books!
