PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Byron Skiddles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rufus Shepherd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shepherd is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Alter Bridge - Addicted to pain . Byron Skiddles has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Byron Skiddles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rufus Shepherd!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skiddles swats away the attempt to clinch by Shepherd.
Shepherd tries to close the distance and clinch but Skiddles swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Shepherd avoids the head kick by Skiddles.
Shepherd throws a head kick but Skiddles moves out of range.
Skiddles misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shepherd.
Shepherd takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Shepherd tries to score a power double leg takedown but Skiddles sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shepherd somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Skiddles scores with a nice head shot.
Skiddles's jab looks to have found its range, popping Shepherd under the eye.

Shepherd has closed the distance and engaged Skiddles in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shepherd throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Shepherd with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Byron Skiddles has been cut.
Skiddles is trying to force a seperation but Shepherd has the dominant position.
Skiddles is trying to break the clinch but Shepherd is controlling him.
Shepherd avoiding damage.
Skiddles lands an uppercut.
Shepherd is trying to maintain a safe position but Skiddles gets an underhook and turns Shepherd into the ropes.
Shepherd tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Shepherd trying to land knees to the body.
Skiddles has had enough of the clinch but Shepherd keeps him there for the moment.
Skiddles wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Skiddles.
Shepherd working Skiddles over with knees to the body.
A short body shot lands from Skiddles as the two fighters clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shepherd throws a head punch that misses.
Shepherd tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Shepherd looking to throw knees to the head but Skiddles is blocking nicely.
Skiddles blocks an uppercut.

Skiddles breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shepherd throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Skiddles's head.
Skiddles fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Skiddles cracks Shepherd with a right hand to the side of the head.
Shepherd tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Skiddles counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Skiddles.
Shepherd being controlled here, momentarily.
Shepherd wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Skiddles is now in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shepherd is staying active underneath Skiddles, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Skiddles thows a huge punch but Shepherd dodges it nicely.
Skiddles is thwarting Shepherd's attempts to control the position.

Skiddles wants to work for an arm triangle but Shepherd is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Well, if Skiddles is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Skiddles wants to take a breather but Shepherd is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shepherd is in trouble now - Skiddles has advanced to mount!
Shepherd wants to hold on but Skiddles pushes him away.
Shepherd tries to improve his position but instead Skiddles has taken his back!

Skiddles throwing sloppy strikes.
Skiddles trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Shepherd doesn't escape.
Skiddles has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Skiddles missing with punches from the back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Byron Skiddles dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Byron Skiddles's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Shepherd fails with an attempt to clinch.
Skiddles connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Shepherd fails with an attempt to clinch.
Shepherd wants to clinch up but Skiddles keeps it at a distance.
Skiddles swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Shepherd.


Shepherd is rocked!
Skiddles measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Shepherd! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Byron Skiddles!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Byron Skiddles waved his t-shirt featuring xXx Clothing (Nothing Over $20)'s logo in front of the cameras.
Rufus Shepherd was interviewed post fight and said 'Unfortunately i lost but i will train a lot to win next fight for myself and you- my fans'.
