Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Key (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wu Wei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wei has chosen The Nights as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marshall Key! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wu Wei! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Chris Dean and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Key chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wei can pounce on him.
Wei scores with a jab to the body. Key avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wei dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Key. That did some damage! The fight moves into the clinch position. Key pulls guard. Key really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Key wants to sweep here but Wei controlling him for the moment. Wei is looking to stand up but Key won't let him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wei looking to sit in guard and control but Key gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Wei is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Key thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wei can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Key controls the pace. Wei doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Key works over Wei with some ground and pound from guard. Wei looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Key prevents Wei from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Wei trying to control the position.
Key postures up in Wei's guard and throws a big left but Wei blocks it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Wei swats away the attempt to clinch by Key. Wei wants to clinch. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Wei.
Key fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Key throws the kick towards the body but Wei avoids it. Key rushes Wei and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Wei tries to break the clinch but Key is controlling the position. Wei is trying to break free. Key slows down the pace here.

Wei tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Key just stands there and leans against the cage. Wei lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Key prevents a takedown attempt there.

Marshall Key has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wu Wei. Wei is trying to force a seperation but Key has the dominant position. Wei wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Key has him pressed against the cage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wei tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Key smiles and moves away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Marshall Key will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Key counters with a one-two to the body. Wei misses with a hook. Key ducked under it nicely. Wei wants to clinch up but Key keeps it at a distance. A head kick misses from Key. Key gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Wei breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Key takes a kick to the side of the head. Wei tries to clinch but Key moves out of range. No luck for Wei with that takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wei is looking to clinch but Key is avoiding it.
Key seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Key fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Wei throws a big counter head kick but Key avoids it with no problem. Wei misses with a jab, cross combination.

Key closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wei to the mat! Wei manages to get full guard. Wei has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Key is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Wei. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wei is breathing heavily. Key has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Marshall Key is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Key circles away from the clinch attempt and Key counters with a nice double leg into guard. Key thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Key landing with the ground and pound. Wei escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Key gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Wei wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Key manages to pass to side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Key scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Marshall Key overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Key stops Wei from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Key lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Key is nestled in close to Wei, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Key lands strikes from half guard. Key working over Wei with some ground and pound. Wei looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Key wants to work for an arm triangle but Wei is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Key is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wei can do to turn this around? Wei is trying to escape back to his feet but Key uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Key in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Key grinds an elbow into Wei's temple. Wei taking a bit of punishment here - Key scoring with strikes. Wei looking for a sweep but Key has passed into full mount! Oh no! Key looking for a guillotine from mount but Wei is having none of it. Wei regains half guard. Wei is trying to stand back up but Key is controlling him

Marshall Key dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
A solid body kick from Wei. Wei stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wei wants it to stay on the feet. Key forces Wei back against the cage and clinches. Wei's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Wei looks to land a body kick but Key moved away. Key feinted with a counter takedown. Wei doesn't succeed with the takedown and Key holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Key throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Weis head. Wei working hard to break the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wei tries to stall but Key uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Key landing some decent shots from guard. Key controlling from the top position. Key is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Key slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Wei wants to stand and escape but Key is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Key gets to his feet. Wei looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Wei misses with a head kick.
Key looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Key prevents Wei from improving his position. Wei takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Key postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Wei to stand up. Wei misses with the combination.
Wei tries to land a front kick but Key steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Key feinted with a counter takedown. Wei wants to clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wei fails in his attempt to clinch. Key throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wei was covering up waiting for the punch and Key finishes the takedown easily into guard. Key will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Key is looking to work some ground and pound but Wei has wrist control. Wei escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Key gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Key content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Wu Wei has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight! Marshall Key showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Key, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
