Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Prince Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Prince Edgar!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ben Hemmingworth and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edgar moves into the clinch successfully.

Jackson breaks the clinch.

Edgar ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Edgar no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Jackson is looking to stand up but Edgar won't let him.
Edgar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Edgar might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jackson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Edgar pulls Jackson in close to prevent any damage.
Edgar wants to sweep but no luck.
Jackson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Edgar has his foot on Jackson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jackson works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Jackson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Edgar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Edgar gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Edgar is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard.

Jackson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Jackson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Edgar tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jackson is in Edgar's guard.

Edgar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Edgar seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Jackson wants to control but Edgar is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That was a close round but I would say that Frank Jackson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Jackson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Edgar sprawls well initially but Jackson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Edgar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Edgar is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Edgar's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Edgar wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Jackson is now in half guard.

Frank Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jackson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Jackson wants to stand but Edgar has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Edgar has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Jackson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Jackson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jackson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Edgar on the side of the head.

Edgar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Jackson pulls Edgar in to control the position.
Edgar wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
Jackson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Edgar not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Edgar is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Jackson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

A close second round but Prince Edgar will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Edgar throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jackson was covering up waiting for the punch and Edgar finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Edgar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jackson manages to get himself to full guard.


Jackson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Edgar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Edgar passes Jackson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Jackson tries to kick Edgar off but Edgar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Edgar is looking to advance position but Jackson won't allow it.
Edgar is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jackson is positioning himself well to prevent Edgar advancing to mount.
Edgar wants to pass to mount but Jackson is defending the position.

I think Edgar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
