Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Booth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. John Brooks has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Richard Booth's chin.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Brooks! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Booth closes the distance and pushes Brooks back into the cage. Booth tries for a takedown. No joy.
Booth pulls guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Booth trying to control the position here. Booth scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Booth really is a fat lump. Booth closes the distance and clinches. Booth tries for a takedown but Brooks manages to get underhooks.

Booth has his foot on Brooks's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brooks works his way back into a safe position though. Brooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Booth is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Brooks throws an elbow that misses. Booth uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Brooks's guard. Nice move by Booth!
That's one minute gone in the round. Booth gets to his feet. Brooks looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Brooks fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Booth attempts a counter takedown but Brooks avoids it well and moves away. Brooks looks winded! Brooks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Booth, pushing him back against the cage. Booth jumps guard and drags Brooks to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Booth managing to control the position. Booth has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Brooks has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Booth has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Brooks uses from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brooks wants to stand but Booth has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Booth keeping moving, preventing Brooks from controlling successfully. Booth has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Booth is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Booth decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Booth darts in and clinches Brooks up against the cage. Brooks jumps guard but Booth stands there with Brooks around his waist. Brooks gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brooks accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Booth pushes Brooks off and gets back to his feet.
Booth rushes Brooks and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Booth has hold of one of Brooks's legs. Brooks is fighting the takedown attempt but Booth gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Booth sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brooks working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Booth. Booth stands and steps away. Brooks gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Booth shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Booth stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Brooks to get to his feet. Booth takes the fight into the clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Booth decides to pull guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Booth clinches up with Brooks and pushes him back against the cage. Booth decides to pull guard. Booth controlling the position. Booth bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brooks's guard.
Booth might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Booth decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Brooks, up you get! Brooks sizes up Booth with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Booth gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Booth works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Booth stands up from Brooks's guard - Booth perhaps looking for a knockout. Brooks is breathing heavily. Brooks misses with a left hand and Booth counters with a single leg into guard. Brooks didn't expect that. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Booth in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Booth throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Booth manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Brooks manages to get himself to full guard.
Booth postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Booth scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Booth gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. John Brooks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brooks tries to sprawl but Booth drives through with a takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Booth missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Booth winds up and cracks Brooks with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Booth lands a nice short elbow. Brooks wants to get back to full guard. Booth stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Brooks to get to his feet. Booth gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Booth pulls Brooks into guard.

Booth fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Brooks, pushing him back against the cage. Booth is trying to trip Brooks. He has hold of a leg but Brooks is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Booth persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Booth is in close to Brooks's body, working some short punches and elbows. Booth with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Brooks is working an open guard so Booth takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Brooks swats away the attempt to clinch by Booth. Brooks throws a counter combo. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Booth pulls guard effortlessly. Booth has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Brooks off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Booth clinches. Brooks is defending well against a takedown attempt. Brooks working hard to break the clinch. Booth turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Booth manages to end up in side control. Brooks struggling a bit here. Booth working the ground and pound. Brooks takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Booth throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Booth decides to stand back up. Booth steps back and let's Brooks get back to his feet. Brooks keeps the fight on the outside. Brooks is looking for the big counter here. Booth throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brooks's waist but Brooks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Booth off to one side. Richard Booth is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Booth clinches up with Brooks and pushes him back against the cage. Booth manages to pull guard.
Brooks is looking to pass into half guard but Booth pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Booth is in guard. Booth with a nice head shot there. Booth slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Booth gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Booth has his hands on Brooks's head, controlling the position. Booth has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Booth is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ground and pound from Booth. Brooks is trying to stand up here but Booth is controlling him well.

Booth throws a right hand that Brooks ducks under and follows up with a left that Brooks also avoids with ease. Brooks will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Booth tries to clinch up. John Brooks has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Booth gets a clinch. Booth drags the fight down to the ground.

And that's the end of the fight! Richard Booth showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Booth, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
