Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between El Matador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Snuka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jimmy Snuka has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, El Matador!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Snuka!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Chad Campbell and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Matador drives through with a takedown into Snuka's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Snuka wants to stand and escape but Matador is having none of it.

Matador drops back looking for a leg! Snuka is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Snuka manages to kick Matador off! Matador jumps back into Snuka's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Snuka pushes Matador off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Snuka throws a good cross that connects.
Snuka lands a glancing blow to the side of Matador's head.

Snuka has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Matador is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Snuka has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Snuka scores with a jab. Matador acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Matador closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Jimmy Snuka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fighters circle momentarily. Snuka darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Snuka stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Snuka wants it to stay on the feet.
Snuka is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Matador had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Matador needs to keep his hands up - Snuka had a free shot at his head there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Snuka cracks Matador with an open hand slap.
Snuka does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
A lazy left from Snuka finds it's target.
Snuka fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Snuka throws a body punch but Matador moves out of range.
Snuka throws an overhand right that lands on Matador's shoulder, as Matador tries to avoid the shot.
Matador ducks under a wild hook from Snuka.
Snuka throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Matador sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Matador changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Snuka scores with a jab to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Matador closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Snuka did well to prevent Matador getting side control.

Matador is looking for a kimura but Snuka is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Matador to get the leverage.

Matador is looking for submissions but instead, Snuka has regained full guard.

Matador drops back, looking for a kneebar! Snuka looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Snuka looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Snuka!


Snuka decides to stand up, so the ref orders Matador to his feet.
Snuka connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Matador takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

and Snuka cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Snuka scores with a leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Matador shoots in and gets a takedown into Snuka's guard.
Snuka wants to get back to his feet but Matador is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Matador thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Snuka can do anything to dispel that myth.

Matador is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Snuka is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Snuka has escaped and now he's on top!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Snuka dominated that round.
That's time! Matador's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


That kick from Snuka tenderised Matador's leg. Matador is trying to keep his angry face on.
A decent looking cross lands there for Snuka.
Snuka clobbers Matador with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Snuka lands a jab to Matador's midsection.
Snuka keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Snuka fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Matador on the side of the head.
Matador looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Matador throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Snuka tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Matador is in Snuka's guard.
Matador advances to half guard.

Matador in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Snuka tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Matador!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). El Matador!
Our winner, El Matador, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
In defeat, Jimmy Snuka stepped up to the mic, saying 'Argghhh!!'.
