PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ham Bone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Declan Franks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Franks has chosen Time Bomb by Rancid as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ham Bone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Declan Franks!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bone pushes Franks up against the cage in a clinch.
Franks is looking to break free of the clinch but Bone has double underhooks.
Franks trying to control the position but instead, Bone has worked for underhooks and has pushed Franks into the cage.
A right handed body shot lands from Bone.

Bone tightens his grip and picks Franks up, before dumping him to the ground. Franks manages to land in guard.
Bone throws a big right hand that misses.
Bone landing with the ground and pound.
Bone working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Franks's head.
Bone postures up and lands a big shot to Franks's brow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bone throwing strikes but missing.
Franks avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Franks tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bone throws a big right hand that misses.
Bone throws a strike but Franks rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bone on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bone tries to get out of the position.
Franks looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The referee calls for Bone to work.
Bone lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Franks tries to stall but Bone uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Bone blocking some punches.
Franks tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Still in the clinch, Bone scores with a nice short uppercut.


It looks like Declan Franks has been cut.
Bone lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Bone lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Bone throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Bone lands a left hand that snaps the head of Franks backwards.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Bone creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Bone shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bone was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Franks takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Franks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bone wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Ham Bone overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bone grinds an elbow into Franks's temple.

Bone creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Franks sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Bone cracks Franks with a big elbow.
Bone looks up at the clock and then as Franks takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bone smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That has opened up Declan Franks's cut even more.
Franks is breathing heavily.

Bone is looking to pass into half guard but Franks pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Franks is in guard.

Bone has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Franks scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Bone misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Franks throws out a counter right but Bone avoids it with no problem.

Franks throws a right hand that Bone ducks under and follows up with a left that Bone also avoids with ease.

and Franks counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Bone has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Franks is trying to keep an underhook but Bone manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ham Bone.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bone, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
