Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cameron Cole! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dillan Boyer! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cole keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Boyer slips under a jab. Nice takedown defense from Cole. No joy for Boyer on that attempt. Cameron Cole seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boyer keeps the fight on the outside. Cole wants to clinch up but Boyer keeps it at a distance. Cole is looking to clinch but Boyer is avoiding it.
Cole misses the jab. Cole misses with a straight right. Cole keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Cameron Cole has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dillan Boyer. Cole throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Boyer tumbling to the canvas!
It looks like Dillan Boyer has been cut. Boyer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Boyer has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Cole has passed into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boyer tries to buck Cole off but Cole is having none of it. Cole controlling from side mount. Cole moves into full mount! Boyer is desperately trying to improve his position but Cole has a good base and remains in mount. Cole is standing up, even though he is in mount. Cole lands with a thumping leg kick.
Boyer shoots in for a takedown but Cole shows good takedown defense. Boyer looks gassed! Cole tries to clinch but Boyer is having none of it. Cole throws a hook but Boyer blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boyer swats away the attempt to clinch by Cole. Cole throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. The fight stays on the outside here - Cole looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Boyer tries for a takedown but Cole sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cole throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cole misses with a two punch combination.
Cole fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cole takes a swing at Boyer's ribcage but misses. Cole misses with a hook. Boyer ducked under it nicely. Boyer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cole.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boyer keeps the fight on the outside. Cole tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cole throws a big shot that misses. Boyer staying out of range there. Boyer scores a takedown into full mount! Cole is squirming around, avoiding Boyer's attempts to control the action. Cole is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Boyer trying to control but he's not successful this time. Cole can't escape the position.
Boyer goes for an armbar but Cole turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Cole.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boyer throws his legs up looking for a submission but Cole uses it to pass to side control.
Boyer tries to bench press Cole off him but Cole keeps the position. Boyer looks to move to half guard but instead Cole has passed into mount! Damn! Boyer is trying desperately to improve position. Cole content just to control the position here. Cole's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cameron Cole dominated that round. The cut man is working on Dillan Boyer's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Cole fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Boyer looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Cole connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Cole swings for the body but Boyer moves out of range.
Cole doesn't manage to clinch there - Boyer circles away.
Cole throws a jab but it's blocked by Boyer. Cole tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Boyer checks a leg kick nicely. Cole tries to clinch there but Boyer circles away.
Cole tries a head kick but it misses.
Cole moves in looking to clinch but Boyer pushes him off. Cole lands with a big left! Boyer is wobbled badly! Cole comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Boyer to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Cameron Cole! Cameron Cole retains his middleweight title!
