The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saliva throws a solid leg kick but Mendez takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Saliva.
Saliva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mendez misses with the combination.
Mendez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Saliva avoids the head kick by Mendez.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Saliva has eaten all the pies!
Mendez knocks Saliva to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
It looks like Anderson Saliva has been cut.
Mendez has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Mendez tries a head kick but it misses.
Saliva is looking to clinch but Mendez is avoiding it.
Saliva uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mendez.
Saliva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Saliva closes the distance and clinches up with Mendez, looking for a takedown. Saliva pushes Mendez against the cage but Mendez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Caesar Mendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Saliva.
Mendez throws a head kick but Saliva moves out of range.

Caesar Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Saliva fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Mendez throws a leg kick but Saliva checks it.
No joy there for Mendez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Saliva takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Saliva looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mendez misses with a few strikes there.
Mendez throws a sloppy head kick and Saliva moves out of range easily.
Saliva is trying desperately to land a takedown but Mendez is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Saliva.

Mendez lands a nice hook to Saliva's body. Saliva takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Mendez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mendez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Saliva chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mendez can pounce on him.

Saliva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mendez tries to avoid it but Saliva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mendez to the ground. Mendez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mendez connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Saliva on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mendez. Mendez obviously looking to wear him down.

Mendez connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Mendez thows a body shot but no joy.

Saliva wants to clinch.

Mendez buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Mendez lands a head kick!
That has opened up Anderson Saliva's cut even more.
Mendez throws a series of strikes that have Saliva backpedaling.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mendez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mendez gets caught flat footed, as Saliva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mendez kicks Saliva off and gets to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Caesar Mendez dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Anderson Saliva's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!
The crowd cheers as Mendez lands an impressive looking overhand right. Saliva doesn't seem phased though.
Mendez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Saliva can do to turn this around?
Saliva wants to clinch up but Mendez keeps it at a distance.
A telegraphed right hand from Mendez misses the target.
Mendez is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Saliva moves into the clinch.
Mendez tries to break the clinch but Saliva is controlling the position.
Mendez wants to get back to striking at distance but Saliva won't allow it.

Mendez kicks off Saliva and gets to his feet.

Caesar Mendez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mendez lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Saliva is looking to close the distance but Mendez sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Saliva crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Saliva is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
