Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Koo Poon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poon comes to the cage accompanied by Eye Of The Tiger. Koo Poon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Koo Poon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alan Dean!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poon misses the jab.
Poon definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Poon drops Dean with a nice combination! Poon dives into Dean's guard, looking to finish!


It looks like Alan Dean has been cut.
Poon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dean is keeping the position for now.

Poon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dean looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dean looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dean!

Dean is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Poon has escaped the position, nice work there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dean is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Poon drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dean manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Poon has Dean in his guard.


Dean avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Poon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dean must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Poon is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dean defends well.

Dean is riding his opponent, not letting Poon buck him off.

Dean tries to get the hooks in deep but Poon pushed the leg off.

Dean has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Poon's body.
Dean is trying to stick to Poon's back but Poon is turning into Dean. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Dean's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Poon.
Poon throws an elbow that misses. Dean uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Poon's guard. Nice move by Dean!


Dean stands up and waves to Poon to follow him.
Koo Poon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Poon misses the jab.
Dean staying out of range there.
Poon fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Poon misses with a hook. Dean ducked under it nicely.
Poon lands with an overhand left.
Koo Poon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Poon lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Poon.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dean has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Poon finds it's way round the side to connect with Dean's head.
Dean slips a jab and a cross from Poon.
Poon misses with a looping right.
A telegraphed right hand from Poon misses the target.
Poon moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Poon cracks a nice hook into Dean's ribs.

and Dean decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Poon's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dean is stalling in the full guard.

Alan Dean showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Poon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Some wild striking there from Poon.
Poon throws out a loose jab but Dean uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Dean counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Poon is staying active underneath Dean, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Poon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Poon pushes a forearm under Dean's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Dean is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Koo Poon!
Koo Poon seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
