PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sherwood Cameron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Corey Anderson will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sherwood Cameron!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Corey Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Columbo Gatti and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson scores with a one two! Cameron had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Sherwood Cameron has been cut.
Cameron with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Cameron swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Cameron pulls out of a head kick attempt.
It seemed like Anderson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Cameron scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Anderson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Anderson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Anderson gets caught flat footed, as Cameron shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Cameron stands and steps away. Anderson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Anderson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cameron's half guard.
Cameron might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cameron pushes Anderson off looking to stand but Anderson dives back in and keeps control.
Cameron is trying to maintain the position but Anderson is very close to passing his half guard.

Anderson gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cameron regains guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cameron holds on and takes a little breather.
Cameron manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Anderson manages to get himself to full guard.

Anderson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Anderson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Cameron closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Cameron tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cameron has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That was a close second round but I would say that Sherwood Cameron will probably get the nod.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Cameron decides to stand up, so the ref orders Anderson to his feet.

Anderson throws a series of punches but Cameron avoids them all with ease.

Anderson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Cameron doesn't manage to clinch there - Anderson circles away.
Cameron slips a jab and a cross from Anderson.
Anderson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cameron shoots in looking for a takedown but Anderson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cameron's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Anderson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cameron keeps working.

Anderson closes the distance and pushes Cameron back into the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Corey Anderson.
I think Anderson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
