Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Hayes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Engelbreckt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Hayes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexander Engelbreckt! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Engelbreckt uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hayes. Hayes throws a good cross that connects.
Engelbreckt has taken the fight to the clinch.
Engelbreckt takes a shot to the head. Engelbreckt manages to pull guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Engelbreckt tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hayes wants to control from the top but Engelbreckt keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hayes is looking to pass into half guard but Engelbreckt pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Engelbreckt is in guard.

Engelbreckt postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Hayes keeping moving, preventing Engelbreckt from controlling successfully. Engelbreckt decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hayes, up you get!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hayes connects with a crisp jab. Hayes scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Hayes leaves Engelbreckt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Engelbreckt gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Hayes misses with a low kick. Engelbreckt displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hayes throws out the jab. Hayes gets caught napping as Engelbreckt dives in and scores a takedown. Hayes manages to retain guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Engelbreckt throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Engelbreckt lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Engelbreckt avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Hayes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Engelbreckt is aware though and is defending well. Hayes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hayes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Engelbreckt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hayes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Engelbreckt defends well. Engelbreckt throws a big right hand that misses. Engelbreckt is in close to Hayes's body, working some short punches and elbows. Engelbreckt distracts Hayes with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Engelbreckt controls from within his opponent's guard. Engelbreckt works over Hayes with some ground and pound from guard.

Hayes seems keen to control Engelbreckt's posture. Hayes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Engelbreckt's guard. Hayes wants to control from the top but Engelbreckt keeps moving. Hayes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Hayes tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Engelbreckt was well out of range. Poor timing from Hayes. Hayes tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Hayes goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Hayes throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Engelbreckt was covering up waiting for the punch and Hayes finishes the takedown easily into guard. Hayes postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Hayes stopping the sweep attempt from Engelbreckt. Hayes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Engelbreckt is keeping the position for now. Engelbreckt trying to strike off his back.

Engelbreckt tries to roll over but Hayes keeps him under control. Alexander Engelbreckt has got the better of the ground game so far. Engelbreckt tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Engelbreckt is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Engelbreckt is trying to maintain the position but Hayes is very close to passing his half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Engelbreckt is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Hayes is staying active.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Engelbreckt takes the fight into the clinch. Engelbreckt misses with some punches.
Hayes lands a left hand that snaps the head of Engelbreckt backwards. Engelbreckt tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hayes smiles and moves away.
Hayes throws a series of punches but Engelbreckt avoids them all with ease. Hayes seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Engelbreckt looking to score a takedown here. Hayes is defending well but Engelbreckt drives through and ends up in Hayes's guard. Hayes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Engelbreckt defends well. Engelbreckt keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hayes's head.

No, Engelbreckt has managed to get both his arms back between Hayes's legs - danger averted. Engelbreckt works over Hayes with some ground and pound from guard. Engelbreckt shoots for a takedown but Hayes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Engelbreckt drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Engelbreckt shoots and misses letting Hayes counter with a right hand. Engelbreckt tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hayes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Hayes throws a body shot but no joy. Hayes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hayes wants it to stay on the feet. Michael Hayes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Engelbreckt. Hayes tries to land a leg kick but Engelbreckt saw it coming and moves away.
Engelbreckt moves into range and clinches up with Hayes. Engelbreckt tries to pull guard but Hayes holds him up against the cage and eventually Engelbreckt drops back down to his feet.
Engelbreckt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Engelbreckt tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Engelbreckt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hayes tries to avoid it but Engelbreckt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hayes to the ground. Hayes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hayes looks to land a combination but Engelbreckt avoids it well. Engelbreckt is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Hayes with a body shot. Excellent takedown into side control there by Engelbreckt.

Hayes is concentrating on defense, preventing Engelbreckt from advancing position. Engelbreckt is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hayes has managed to free his arm - good work. Hayes scores with a few weak punches. Hayes tries to get to full guard but Engelbreckt has control of the leg. Hayes gets full guard. Hayes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hayes is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Engelbreckt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Engelbreckt is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Engelbreckt closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hayes circles away. Hayes throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Engelbreckt sees it coming and avoids it easily. Engelbreckt tries to counter with a clinch but Hayes shakes him off and moves away. Hayes throws a leg kick but Engelbreckt sees it coming and moves out of range. Engelbreckt is looking to clinch but Hayes is avoiding it.
Hayes swats away the attempt to clinch by Engelbreckt. Michael Hayes is winning the standup battle so far.

Hayes is trying to break the clinch but Engelbreckt is controlling him. A short right from Engelbreckt on the inside. Engelbreckt breaks the clinch.
Hayes connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Hayes defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Engelbreckt. Engelbreckt fails with a takedown attempt. Engelbreckt takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hayes is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Engelbreckt. Hayes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Engelbreckt tries to avoid it but Hayes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Engelbreckt to the ground. Engelbreckt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Engelbreckt with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hayes to score with a decent uppercut. Engelbreckt slips under a jab from Hayes. Engelbreckt loads up on a big right hand but Hayes slips the punch. Hayes misses with a jab, cross combination.
Engelbreckt shoots in for a takedown but Hayes shows good takedown defense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Engelbreckt doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. The fight stays on the outside here - Engelbreckt looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Engelbreckt closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hayes circles away. This has been an exciting period of action! Hayes scores with a one two! Engelbreckt had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Hayes scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Hayes throws a quick inside leg kick. Engelbreckt throws a looping overhand right but Hayes ducks down to avoid it. Hayes connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Engelbreckt! He's out on his feet! Hayes rushes in and drops Engelbreckt with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
