Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Vantuiese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zin Berkantov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Berkantov is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Zaidi. On his way into the cage it seems that Jorge Vantuiese has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jorge Vantuiese seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jorge Vantuiese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zin Berkantov!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berkantov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Vantuiese throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Vantuiese pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Berkantov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Vantuiese counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Vantuiese throws a looping overhand right but Berkantov ducks down to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Berkantov closes the distance and clinches.
Berkantov blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Berkantov avoids a wild elbow strike from Vantuiese.
Vantuiese lands a left hand that snaps the head of Berkantov backwards.
Vantuiese tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Vantuiese lands an elbow inside.
Nice body punch from Vantuiese - that landed with a thud.
Vantuiese jumps into guard, dragging Berkantov to the mat.
Vantuiese has his foot on Berkantov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Berkantov works his way back into a safe position though.
Berkantov trying to control the position from guard on top but Vantuiese is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vantuiese working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Berkantov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Berkantov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Berkantov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vantuiese is on top in guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Vantuiese's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Berkantov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Vantuiese controls the pace.
Vantuiese looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Vantuiese is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Vantuiese throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Berkantov works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Vantuiese with a nice head shot there.
Vantuiese throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Vantuiese sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Vantuiese throwing strikes from guard but Berkantov blocks nicely.

Vantuiese working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Berkantov's head.
Vantuiese slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vantuiese postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Berkantov is looking to stand up but Vantuiese isn't so interested in that idea.

Vantuiese works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Vantuiese passes to side control.
Vantuiese lands a few punches from side control.
Berkantov looks winded!
Vantuiese looks up at the clock and then as Berkantov takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Vantuiese smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Berkantov is rocked!
Vantuiese scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Berkantov is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Vantuiese can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jorge Vantuiese!
The defeated Zin Berkantov had this to say: 'Pfff... I shoudn't have underestimated my opponent...'.
