Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Prince Edgar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Unknown Charrua! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Charrua drives through with a takedown into Edgar's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Charrua postures up and lands a big shot to Edgar's brow. Edgar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Edgar is controlling the pace.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Edgar gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Charrua's coach down at Cozad MMA Sydney was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Charrua's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Edgar wants to clinch and Charrua counters with a straight right hand. Charrua shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Charrua was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's one minute gone in the round. Charrua is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Edgar is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Edgar is trying to improve his position. Check out the look on Charrua's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Edgar tries to buck Charrua off but Charrua is having none of it. Charrua throws an elbow but Edgar slips to the side and avoids it well. Edgar tries to improve position but can't. Edgar avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Charrua. Charrua working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Charrua is trying to ground and pound but Edgar uses the momentary lack of control by Charrua to regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Charrua sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Edgar defending well though. Charrua is looking for a kimura here.
Charrua working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Edgar is trying to stand.
Charrua takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Edgar gets back to full guard.
Edgar is adopting a defensive guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Charrua accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edgar working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Charrua. Charrua missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Charrua lands a couple of elbows.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Charrua shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Charrua was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Charrua tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Charrua working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Charrua looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Edgar is looking to reverse the position. Edgar is breathing heavily. Edgar wants to control but Charrua postures up. Edgar takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Charrua postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Edgar manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Edgar controlling the pace. Charrua looks like he's trying to stand up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Unknown Charrua dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Charrua gets the takedown into side control. Charrua looks up at the clock and then as Edgar takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Charrua smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Edgar wants to control but Charrua postures up. Edgar tries to improve position but can't. Charrua is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Edgar knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Charrua is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Edgar is trying to escape and Charrua transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Edgar is forced to tap! Nice work there by Charrua! Very nice indeed!
