The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gatmaitan takes the fight into the clinch.

A head punch on the inside from Gatmaitan fails to land.
Gatmaitan tries a knee to the head but Mac Eoghain blocks it.
Gatmaitan swings wildly with an uppercut but Mac Eoghain uses good head movement to avoid it.

Mac Eoghain has clasped his hands together around Gatmaitan's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Gatmaitan is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mac Eoghain's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Gatmaitan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gatmaitan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gatmaitan has momentary wrist control but Mac Eoghain slips an elbow through the middle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gatmaitan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mac Eoghain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mac Eoghain is working Gatmaitan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Gatmaitan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mac Eoghain's guard.

Gatmaitan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mac Eoghain swivels though and keeps the full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gatmaitan loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Mac Eoghain scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Gatmaitan land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Gatmaitan stands and salutes the crowd.

Maximilian Mac Eoghain was interviewed post fight and said 'You didn't beat me! I beat myself, you were just the lucky one in the octagon at the time. I will destroy you! I demand a rematch! Métra M'Bolé get on it! Haha!'.
