Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maurice Lester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Thomas is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Maurice Lester! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Thomas! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas lands with a good body shot. Lester fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Thomas sprawls well initially but Lester persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thomas wants to stand back up but Lester manages to pass into side control.
Lester has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Thomas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Thomas preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Thomas tries to strike from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lester postures up in Thomas's guard and throws a big left but Thomas blocks it. Lester won't allow Thomas to sweep him here. Thomas wants to stand but Lester is controlling the position. Thomas manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lester manages to get himself to full guard.
Thomas wants to control from the top but Lester keeps moving. Thomas wants to stand but Lester has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Lester has his feet on Thomas's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Thomas looks to land a combination. Lester sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Lester slips under a jab. Lester changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Thomas looks to land a combination. Lester sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Thomas works the jab nicely. Lester shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thomas but Thomas pushes him off and we're back to square one. Thomas has Lester up against the cage in a clinch.
Lester wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lester has Thomas pushed against the cage. Thomas has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lester after a bit of a struggle. Thomas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Thomas lands a really nice looking cross but Lester seems unphased.

Thomas throws a punch but it's blocked by Lester.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thomas throws a head punch that misses. Thomas has had enough of the clinch but Lester keeps him there for the moment. Lester wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Thomas has him pressed against the cage. Thomas drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lester gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Lester manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mark Thomas will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Maurice Lester is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Thomas lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lester ducks under a wild hook from Thomas. Thomas throws a wild combination but nothing lands. We've been informed that Thomas has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Lester avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thomas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lester circles away quickly and effectively. Thomas misses with a low kick.
Lester tries to score a power double leg takedown but Thomas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lester somewhat. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lester shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thomas pinned against the cage. Thomas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Lester shoots in for a double leg but Thomas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maurice Lester. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thomas tries to work over Lester's front leg with a kick but Lester checks it. No joy there for Thomas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Lester has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Thomas. Thomas has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Thomas getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Mark Thomas seems to be getting the better of the standup. Thomas throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Thomas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lester appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Thomas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lester attempts a counter takedown but Thomas avoids it well and moves away. Thomas throws out a loose jab but Lester uses good head movement to avoid it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Thomas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lester is fending him off so far but Thomas persists. Nope, Lester circles away and we're back to standing. Lester looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thomas wants to stand up but Lester is controlling him. Lester stands up from Thomas's guard - Lester perhaps looking for a knockout. Mark Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lester closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Thomas to the mat! Thomas manages to get full guard. Lester will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Lester throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thomas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lester throws a big right hand that misses. Lester has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lester stopping the sweep attempt from Thomas. Thomas controls Lester momentarily but Lester frees himself. Lester stands up and waves to Thomas to follow him. Lester showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Thomas.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown but Lester shows good takedown defense. Danga de danga de dang - Thomas scores with a four punch combination! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Thomas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Thomas wants to control but Lester is keeping busy and won't allow it. Thomas is looking to get back to is feet but Lester passes into side control.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Thomas. Mark Thomas is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Thomas is trying to break the clinch but Lester has him pressed against the cage. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Thomas fails to pull the fight into his guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Thomas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Thomas winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
