Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roderick Patel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Deandre Jones!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones connects with a nice looking jab.
Jones looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet.
Jones looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Patel shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well.
Horrible takedown attempt by Patel or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones, which made it look bad.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Patel shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.

Patel lands a big head kick that sends Jones tumbling to the mat! Patel takes a step backwards and waves Jones back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Deandre Jones has been cut.
Patel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jones looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

This has been an exciting period of action!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Patel.
A nice side step and Jones releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Jones gets caught flat footed, as Patel shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Patel has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Patel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Patel would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jones let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Patel shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Patel was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Patel closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jones to the mat! Jones manages to get full guard.
Patel slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Patel seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.
Patel continues to stall.

The fight stays on the outside here - Patel looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Patel closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Patel pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Patel backing away here, and Jones unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Jones dodges the punch combination from Patel.
Jones leaves Patel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Patel throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jones was covering up waiting for the punch and Patel finishes the takedown easily into guard.

It seemed like Jones was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Patel, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Jones! But no joy.
Patel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Patel dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Patel shoots in but no luck this time.
Jones let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Deandre Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Roderick Patel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jones throws a low kick but Patel moves out of range easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Deandre Jones.
I think Patel has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
