Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Loster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiago Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendez has chosen Trap Door as his entrance music. John Loster has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, John Loster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
30 - 31 - 0, fighting out of London, Tiago Mendez! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Richard Clark and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez looking to score a takedown here. Loster is defending well but Mendez drives through and ends up in Loster's guard. Loster working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mendez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mendez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Loster isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mendez stacks Loster on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mendez! Mendez decides to stand up, so the ref orders Loster to his feet. Mendez ducks under a wild hook from Loster. Mendez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Loster. Mendez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Loster's guard. Loster looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Loster is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mendez is aware though and is defending well. Mendez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Loster has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mendez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Loster escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mendez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Loster is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mendez defends well. Mendez stands and steps away. Loster gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Mendez fails to land with a series of punches.
Loster was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Mendez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mendez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Loster's waist but Loster gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mendez off to one side. Loster throws a looping overhand right but Mendez ducks down to avoid it. Loster throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendez throws a wild combination but nothing lands. John Loster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Loster throws a predictable looking body shot
and Mendez counters with a two punch combo. Loster keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Mendez displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Loster throws out the jab. Loster waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Mendez. Loster ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mendez moves away. Mendez looks like he wants to counter punch here. Loster lands a head shot. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Loster ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mendez moves away. Mendez steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Loster. Mendez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Loster sprawls well. Loster wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mendez gets slowly back to his feet. A big right from Loster misses. Loster throws a lazy right hand but Mendez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Loster throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Loster fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mendez looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Mendez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Loster. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Mendez! But no joy. Mendez's coach down at London MMA Club was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mendez's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Mendez wants to clinch. Loster swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Mendez raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Loster jabs at Mendez's body. Loster pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Mendez slips under a jab. Loster fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mendez on the side of the head. John Loster is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jab, jab by Loster - just one landing. A jab from Loster misses. Mendez throws a counter combo. Loster looks to score with a jab to the body but Mendez is just out of range. The fight moves into the clinch position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Loster working hard to break the clinch. Loster working hard to break the clinch. Loster wants to get back to striking at distance but Mendez won't allow it.

Mendez decides to pull guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Loster drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mendez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Loster has Mendez in his guard.

That was a close round but I would say that John Loster will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mendez walks into a stiff left hand from Loster. Tiago Mendez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mendez with a nice cross. Mendez gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Loster. Mendez keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Loster. Nice defenses there by Mendez. Loster scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Loster misses with an uppercut. Mendez tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Mendez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Loster. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Loster misses with an uppercut
and Mendez counters with a nice double leg into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Loster looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

This could be trouble! No, Mendez has managed to free his arm - good work. Mendez slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Mendez keeping moving, preventing Loster from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Loster clobbers Mendez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Mendez moves out of range of the strikes. Loster smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Mendez blocks a jab. Loster lands with an uppercut that bounces Mendez off the cage and back into range. Mendez ducks under a wild hook from Loster. And Mendez tries to counter it with a takedown but Loster pushes his down on his head and steps out. Loster throws a left and a right that both miss

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mendez ducks under a wild hook from Loster. Mendez is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Loster throws an overhand right that lands on Mendez's shoulder, as Mendez tries to avoid the shot. Mendez slips under a jab. Mendez drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Loster defends it well. Loster throws a jab when Mendez was well out of range. Mendez with the counter takedown but Loster avoids it easily. Mendez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Mendez trying to control but Loster is working from the bottom. Loster has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mendez is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Loster.

Loster was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Loster wants to control but Mendez is having none of it. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mendez cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
