PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Johnson Frederick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kto Rycerz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnson Frederick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kto Rycerz!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frederick leaves Rycerz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Frederick drives through and clinches with Rycerz against the cage.
Frederick can't break the clinch.
Rycerz is trying to drag Frederick to the mat but Frederick just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Rycerz pulls guard effortlessly.
Rycerz controls Frederick momentarily but Frederick frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frederick missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Rycerz has his foot on Frederick's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Frederick works his way back into a safe position though.
Frederick wants to stand but Rycerz has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Frederick stands up from Rycerz's guard - Frederick perhaps looking for a knockout.

Frederick fails to land the takedown.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Frederick escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Frederick gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Rycerz keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Frederick's efforts to push away.

Frederick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rycerz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rycerz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Frederick throws a strike but Rycerz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Frederick throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Frederick is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Frederick bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rycerz's guard.

Frederick postures up and lands a big shot to Rycerz's brow.

Frederick stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Frederick changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rycerz tries to avoid it but Frederick manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rycerz to the ground. Rycerz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rycerz moves into the clinch.
Frederick tries to circle away but Rycerz has him pinned against the cage.
Frederick wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rycerz has him pressed against the cage.
Frederick is trying to break the clinch but Rycerz has him pressed against the cage.
Frederick has a couple of punches blocked by Rycerz.

Frederick breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No luck for Rycerz with that takedown attempt.

Frederick looks for a takedown but Rycerz sprawls well.
Rycerz tries a head kick but it misses.
Frederick will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Frederick uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rycerz.
Rycerz swats away the attempt to clinch by Frederick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rycerz is looking to slow Frederick down with leg kicks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kto Rycerz will probably get the nod.

Rycerz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Frederick defends well and Rycerz ends up having to push Frederick into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Rycerz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Frederick avoids it really well and circles away.
Frederick swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Rycerz has closed the distance and engaged Frederick in a clinch.
Frederick wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Rycerz gets control of Frederick's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rycerz will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Rycerz shoots in for a double leg but Frederick sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Frederick shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rycerz pinned against the cage. Rycerz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rycerz goes for a double leg but Frederick avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Frederick continues to drive forward.

Kto Rycerz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Frederick wants to get up but he can't break Rycerz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frederick with a flurry of punches that miss.
Johnson Frederick has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kto Rycerz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Rycerz controls Frederick momentarily but Frederick frees himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
Johnson Frederick showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rycerz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
