PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cassius Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Cassius Clay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vincent King!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clay has a takedown stuffed.
Clay tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but King defends well and Clay ends up having to push King into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
King looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Clay takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Clay lands with a kick to the ribs.
Clay tries to clinch up but King circles away and keeps his distance.
Clay shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A little jabbing left from King on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cassius Clay. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clay fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but King avoids it really well and circles away.
Clay fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Clay throws a head kick that half lands.
Clay takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
King scores with a nice head shot.
Clay is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Clay doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Clay takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Clay fails with a takedown attempt.
Clay is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Clay tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. King manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
King throws out a counter right but Clay avoids it with no problem.
Clay takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Clay really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Clay throws a leg kick
and King counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Clay gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
King scores with a hook to the body. Clay takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
King lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
King scores with a sloppy right hand. Clay should have avoided that one.
Clay throws a sloppy head kick
and King counters with a stiff right hand.
King connects with a good right hand that stumbles Clay. Clay circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Clay takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Clay misses with a double jab
and King counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
King connects with a single shot there.

Clay drives through with a takedown into King's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
King is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Clay is controlling him.
King keeping moving, preventing Clay from controlling successfully.
King wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if King can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Clay tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.
King is pulling down on Clay's head. It's preventing any offense from Clay, at least for the moment.
Clay looking to pass the guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Clay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Clay trying to control but King is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Clay walks into a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vincent King dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Clay looks to land a combination but King avoids it well.
King looks like he wants to counter punch here.
King uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Clay.
Clay tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but King paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Clay shoots and misses
and King counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Clay will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
King swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Clay tries a head kick but it misses.
King swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Clay shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Clay takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and King counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
King might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Clay takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
King connects with a body shot.
King connects with a single shot there.
Clay closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
King blocks the body kick.
Clay shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and King cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

King scores with the left hand. Clay knows he should have avoided that one.


Clay is rocked!
King connects with a looping right hand.
Oh Clay is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!

King lands a big right hand that sends Clay crashing to the mat! King stays standing though and waves Clay back to his feet!
King steps in with a hook that catches Clay right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! King follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Clay looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vincent King!
