Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brad Opie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Drunken Piaso! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Opie gets caught flat footed, as Piaso shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The fighters are working up against the cage. Opie manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Piaso looking to slow down the pace here. Piaso gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Opie regains guard.
Opie wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Opie looking to control.
Piaso wants to control from the top but Opie keeps moving. Opie is trying to keep Piaso in close.
Opie looking for a sweep. Not yet Opie, not yet. Piaso throws a big elbow that misses. Piaso controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Opie is controlling Piaso's posture. We've been hearing good reports from Opie's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Opie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Piaso gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Piaso wants to control from the top but Opie keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Piaso sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Opie's guard. Piaso is pressing down on Opie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Opie is holding on for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Opie wants to improve his position but Piaso is controlling well.
Opie is trying to maintain the position but Piaso is very close to passing his half guard. Opie regains full guard. Nicely done. Piaso stopping the sweep attempt from Opie. Opie tries to strike from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Piaso scores with a takedown into Opie's guard. Opie keeping moving, preventing Piaso from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Piaso leaves Opie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Piaso tries to close the distance and clinch but Opie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Opie seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Piaso tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Piaso drives through with a takedown into Opie's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Opie wants to sweep but no luck. Opie utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Opie tries to land a sweep but no joy. Opie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Piaso postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Opie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Piaso, into his guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Opie advances position into side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Drunken Piaso dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Piaso fails in his attempt to clinch. Piaso tries to clinch but Opie moves out of range. A momentary lapse in concentration from Opie enables Piaso to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Opie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Piaso pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Opie is keeping the position for now. Piaso closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Opie is looking to reverse the position. Drunken Piaso has got the better of the ground game so far. Piaso wants to control but Opie is keeping him busy. Opie is looking to regain half guard here but Piaso keeps moving and retains side control. Piaso is looking to take a break and control but Opie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Piaso wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Opie, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Opie is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Piaso's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. The fighters are battling for position here. Opie manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Piaso looking to sit in guard and control but Opie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Opie is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Opie trying to control the position from guard on top but Piaso is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Opie is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Piaso is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. We've been informed that Piaso has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Opie fails with a takedown attempt. Opie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Piaso tries to counter by closing the distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad Opie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Drunken Piaso showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Opie takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Opie looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Opie has a takedown stuffed. Opie fails with a takedown attempt. Piaso throws a counter combo. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad Opie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Opie tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Piaso defends well and Opie ends up having to push Piaso into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Opie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Piaso.
As Piaso tries to get set, Opie tries to push him back and clinch up but Piaso manages to avoid the attempt. Opie darts in looking for a takedown but Piaso gets double underhooks and turns Opie into the cage. Piaso doesn't manage to clinch there - Opie circles away.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Opie is looking for a sweep. Piaso is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Piaso keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Brad Opie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
And that's the end of the fight! Drunken Piaso comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Piaso has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
