Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nishu Dere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Epp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alex Epp has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Nishu Dere's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nishu Dere! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex Epp! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Epp blocks a head kick by Dere.
Dere fails with a takedown attempt. Epp throws out a counter right but Dere avoids it with no problem. Dere fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Epp manages to avoid it. Dere lands a right hook to the body.
Epp closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Dere is refusing to be controlled, as Epp sits in half guard. Epp wants to free his trapped foot but Dere is holding on for dear life with his legs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dere is trying to control but Epp manages to pass to mount!
Dere tries to hold on but Epp postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dere really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Epp jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Dere manages to avoid the submission attempt. Dere is trying to get back to half guard. Epp laying and praying for a moment but Dere takes advantage and regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Epp not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Dere controlling the position for now. Dere tries to kick Epp off but Epp keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Epp wants to stand up but Dere is controlling the position.
Dere is not content to let Epp control the position. Epp not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Well, if Epp is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Epp is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real. Dere defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Epp. Epp is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dere sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Dere went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Dere tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Dere gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Epp works over Dere with some ground and pound from guard. Dere has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Dere looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dere is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dere keeping moving, preventing Epp from controlling successfully. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dere holds on and takes a little breather. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Epp loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Epp dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Dere rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Epp moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Epp wants to counter with a clinch but Dere pushes him away. Dere closes the distance and clinches. Epp stalls. Epp tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Dere prevents Epp from breaking the clinch. Dere doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Epp wants to take the fight to the mat but Dere manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Dere has had enough of the clinch but Epp keeps him there for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Epp is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Come on Epp - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Epp gets underhooks to prevent Dere's takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dere content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Dere has had enough of the clinch but Epp keeps him there for the moment. Epp tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dere smiles and moves away.
Nishu Dere has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Epp. Epp looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Epp shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dere but Dere pushes him off and we're back to square one. Dere tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Epp manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Dere misses with a body shot.
Dere closes this distance looking for a takedown but Epp circles away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dere fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Epp stuffs the takedown. Nice sprawl there from Dere as Epp shoots in. Epp has closed the distance and engaged Dere in a clinch.
Epp working hard to break the clinch. Dere gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Epp.
Dere trying to control the position but instead, Epp has worked for underhooks and has pushed Dere into the cage. A head punch on the inside from Epp fails to land. Epp fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Dere has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Epp avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Epp drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Dere gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Dere jumps guard.
Epp trying to control but Dere is working from the bottom. Epp gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Epp gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Dere counters with a one-two to the body. Epp leaves Dere with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Epp has Dere up against the cage in a clinch.
Epp is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Dere is defending well for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Epp fails to pull guard.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nishu Dere dominated that second round. That's time! Dere's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Horrible takedown attempt by Dere or perhaps it was just good defense by Epp, which made it look bad. Epp shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dere but Dere pushes him off and we're back to square one. Epp looks to clinch and Dere counters with a takedown into side control. Epp can't do much from the bottom here. Epp manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dere wants to get back to his feet. Dere might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Dere tries to get to full guard but Epp has control of the leg. Dere is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dere flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Dere is trying to control but can't.
Epp performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Epp working the head and body with strikes. Epp prevents Dere from improving his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Epp missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Dere looking for a kimura from the bottom but Epp passes into side control! Epp trying to control the action but Dere is working from the bottom. Dere tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Epp is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Dere is surviving well by controlling Epp's body position as best he can. Epp working for a submission but Dere is keeping him at bay. Dere is trying to reverse the position but instead Epp has taken his back - oops! Epp is riding his opponent, not letting Dere buck him off. Epp working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Dere is doing well to defend. Epp seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Dere is forced to tap and this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Alex Epp!
