PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ichabod Crane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crane comes to the cage accompanied by Broken Bones - Decapitated. Ortiz has chosen I am a real American as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Randy Ortiz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ichabod Crane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Randy Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Ortiz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Crane throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ortiz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Crane is in Ortiz's guard.
Ortiz keeping moving, preventing Crane from controlling successfully.
Ortiz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crane wants to control from the top but Ortiz keeps moving.

Crane is fighting to break Ortiz's control of his arms but Ortiz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Ortiz looking for a sweep. Not yet Ortiz, not yet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ortiz wants to slow Crane down by chopping away at his legs.
Crane scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Crane throws an overhand right that lands on Ortiz's shoulder, as Ortiz tries to avoid the shot.
Ortiz wants to clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ortiz pushes Crane up against the cage in a clinch.
Crane is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ortiz is defending well.
Ortiz tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Crane goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Crane doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Crane lands a nice elbow.
A left hand lands to the body for Ortiz.
Ortiz blocks a body shot from Crane.
Ortiz can't find room to land a body shot as Crane controls the action.
Crane tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Ortiz gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Crane.
Ortiz tries to work over Crane's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A bit of stalling here from Ortiz.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Crane throws a punch but it's blocked by Ortiz.
Ortiz digs a right hand into Crane's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Crane's gas tank.
Crane is breathing heavily.
Ortiz lands a right hand.
Ortiz lands a right hand that snaps the head of Crane backwards.
Ortiz lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Crane misses with a punch on the inside.
Ortiz lands a shot to the body.
A right hand to the body from Ortiz.
Ortiz throws an elbow that misses.
Ortiz stalling against the cage.
Crane blocks the elbow strike.
Crane tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
A short right from Ortiz.
Crane avoids a wild elbow strike from Ortiz.

Ortiz misses with a knee strike.
Ortiz tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Crane's elbow.
Ortiz has Crane pressed against the cage.
Ortiz misses with an elbow over the top.
Crane swings away with an uppercut that misses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ortiz misses with a hook to the ribs.
Crane avoiding damage as Ortiz throws knees to the body.
Crane swings wildly with an uppercut but Ortiz uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ortiz throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Ortiz tries to land a knee to the head but Crane blocks with his arms.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nice body punch from Ortiz.
Crane blocks an elbow strike.
Crane lands a right hand that snaps the head of Ortiz backwards.
Ortiz lands a shoulder strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Ortiz dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Oooooh!!! Ortiz has knocked Crane down with a huge combo! Ortiz steps away and waves a wobbly Crane back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ortiz.

Ortiz clinches with his opponent.
Ortiz lands a body punch.

Crane has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Ortiz clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Crane misses with an elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crane throwing sloppy strikes.
Ortiz avoids the strikes from Crane.
You can see the frustration on Ortiz's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Crane has got his arm under Ortiz's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Ortiz has spun round into Crane's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

Crane looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ortiz puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Crane trying to control here.
Ortiz is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Crane is trying to control but can't.
Crane is trying to get back to full guard.
Ortiz wants to stand up but Crane manages to regain full guard.
Ortiz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ortiz wants to control from the top but Crane keeps moving.
Ortiz stays in close to Crane's body and controls the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Crane shoots for a double leg takedown but Ortiz sprawls well. He's pushed Crane's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ortiz looks to throw the jab but Crane is out of range.
Crane uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
The fighters circling - Crane throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Ortiz tries to land a body kick

and Crane counters with a shoot takedown. Ortiz fights it but they end up in guard.
Ortiz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ortiz is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Crane tries to free his leg and advance position but Ortiz is retaining full guard.
Crane with a flurry of punches that miss.
Crane is looking to work some ground and pound but Ortiz has wrist control.
Crane wants to control from the top but Ortiz keeps moving.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ortiz connects with the punch.
Ortiz has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Crane finds it's way round the side to connect with Ortiz's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Randy Ortiz will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Ortiz lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
That kick from Ortiz tenderised Crane's leg. Crane is trying to keep his angry face on.
Ortiz pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Crane shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ortiz digs a good hook to Crane's body.
Ortiz throws a lazy right hand but Crane sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ortiz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Crane half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Ortiz cracks Crane with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Ichabod Crane is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ortiz jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ortiz has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ortiz lands with a nice body kick.
Ortiz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Crane moves away.
Ortiz leaves Crane with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ortiz scores with a nice right hand.
Ortiz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Crane.

Ortiz feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Crane sprawling to the canvas! Crane rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Ortiz finish him?!


Crane is rocked!
Ortiz seems to be stalking Crane here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Crane drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Randy Ortiz!
After the big win, Randy Ortiz made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Museum of Monsters & Madmen and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
