The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ohmsford throws a head kick but Gates moves out of range.
Gates appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Ohmsford tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gates attempts a counter takedown but Ohmsford avoids it well and moves away.
Ohmsford keeps Gates at a distance using the push kick.
Ohmsford ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gates moves away.
Ohmsford pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gates shoots for a takedown but Ohmsford saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ohmsford lands with an overhand left.

Ohmsford clinches up against the cage.
Ohmsford gets underhooks to prevent Gates's takedown attempt.
Gates can't get the takedown.
Ohmsford looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kashmire Gates. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gates is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gates takes an elbow to the temple.

Ohmsford pulls guard effortlessly.

Gates postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ohmsford is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gates, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ohmsford accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gates is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gates keeping full guard, as Ohmsford tries to pass.

Ohmsford trying to control but Gates is working from the bottom.
Ohmsford sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Ohmsford working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Ohmsford pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gates is keeping the position for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ohmsford got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gates has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ohmsford has managed to get both his arms back between Gates's legs - danger averted.
