Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danny Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaw Loman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charles comes to the cage accompanied by Blinded By The Light. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Danny Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shaw Loman!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Loman.
Loman tries for a takedown but Charles circles away easily
and Charles counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Loman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Charles sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Loman somewhat.
Charles thinks about countering with a head kick.
Danny Charles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaw Loman.
Loman tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Charles defends well and Loman ends up having to push Charles into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Charles looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Loman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Charles but Charles pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Loman is trying to drag Charles to the mat but Charles just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Loman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
As Loman tries to get set, Charles tries to push him back and clinch up but Loman manages to avoid the attempt.

Loman's coach down at Cozad The Island was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Loman's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Loman dives in for a single leg takedown but Charles sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Charles accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Loman wants to sweep here but Charles controlling him for the moment.
Danny Charles overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We've been hearing good reports from Charles's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Well Charles has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
