Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryal Squires!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gavin Charles!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Squires drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Squires makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Charles is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Charles wants to stand and escape but Squires is having none of it.
Charles lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Squires!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Squires swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Squires blocking the ground and pound.
Charles avoids the attempt from Squires to control.
Charles working the ground and pound effectively.
Squires regains half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Charles connects with a nice short shot to Squires's temple.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Charles looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Charles thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Squires gets back to full guard.
Squires controls Charles momentarily but Charles frees himself.
Charles is working Squires over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Squires looking for a sweep. Not yet Squires, not yet.

Squires is working an open guard so Charles takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Charles with a lazy takedown attempt
letting Squires counter with a right hand.
Charles throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Squires sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Squires thuds a left hand into Charles's body.
Charles looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Charles tries for a takedown but Squires circles away easily
and Squires counters with a nice uppercut.

Squires closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Squires is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Charles is trying to escape and Squires transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Charles is forced to tap! Nice work there by Squires! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ryal Squires!
