Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Christos Psolas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rod Mclaren!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Psolas rushes Mclaren and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Psolas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Psolas falls off balance throwing a combination
and Mclaren counters with a two punch combo.
Mclaren avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mclaren is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Psolas with a body shot.
Mclaren shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Psolas but Psolas pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Psolas rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mclaren counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Psolas takes the fight into the clinch.
Psolas working hard to break the clinch.
Mclaren tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mclaren wants to break the clinch but can't.
Psolas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Psolas lands a left and a right that send Mclaren crashing to the mat, dazed. Psolas thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Rod Mclaren has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mclaren showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Psolas.
Mclaren closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Psolas to the mat! Psolas manages to get full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mclaren trying to control but Psolas is working from the bottom.
Mclaren throws a big elbow that misses.
Psolas is breathing heavily.
Mclaren slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mclaren has an Americana. Psolas didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Mclaren is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Mclaren hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Rod Mclaren!
