Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Formanczyk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Formanczyk!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Formanczyk moves into the clinch.
Formanczyk lands with a light punch inside.

Jackson is trying to break the clinch but Formanczyk has him pressed against the cage.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Formanczyk obliges.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Formanczyk has taken the fight to the clinch.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Formanczyk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

It looks like Frank Jackson has been cut.

Jackson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Formanczyk just stands there and leans against the cage.

Formanczyk gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jackson tries to pull guard but Formanczyk forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Formanczyk keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jackson's efforts to push away.

Formanczyk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Formanczyk clinches up with Jackson and pushes him back against the cage.

Formanczyk pulls guard successfully.
Formanczyk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Formanczyk is looking to sweep but instead, Jackson has passed into half guard.

Formanczyk wants to control but Jackson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Formanczyk looks like he's trying to stand up.
Jackson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Formanczyk dominated that round.

That's time! Back to the action!


Formanczyk takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Formanczyk rushes Jackson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Formanczyk is looking to control Jackson's arms but Jackson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Formanczyk has his back to the cage.
Formanczyk pushes Jackson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Formanczyk escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Formanczyk throws a push kick but Jackson slaps the foot to one side.

Formanczyk dives in and scores a takedown into Jackson's guard.

Formanczyk tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jackson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Formanczyk doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Jackson is tightening it up a little... Formanczyk has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Formanczyk reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Formanczyk taps out! Nice BJJ there by Jackson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Frank Jackson!
