PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Tran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tran's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Blockbuster Night Part 1. Lynch has chosen Suffa by Hed Pe as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Tran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lucas Lynch!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynch throws a jab when Tran was well out of range.
Tran throws a big counter combination but Lynch scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Tran fails with a takedown attempt.

Tran rushes Lynch and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Tran jumps guard but Lynch turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Tran struggles to land a body shot inside as Lynch controls his hands.
Tran misses with some punches.

Lynch breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lynch closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tran to the mat! Tran manages to get full guard.

Lynch avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lynch stands up from Tran's guard - Lynch perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lynch keeps the fight on the outside.
Tran misses with a double jab.
Tran feints and then cracks Lynch's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lynch down.
Lynch throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lynch moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Tran showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lynch.
Tran shoots in but no luck this time.
Lynch is looking for the big counter here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Tran. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lynch gets the takedown into side control.
Tran avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Lynch.
Tran is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lynch controlling from side mount.

Lynch stands up and beckons Tran to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lynch shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tran manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Lynch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tran. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tran is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lynch defends well.
Tran looking for a sweep. Not yet Tran, not yet.
Lynch controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Tran will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tran working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lynch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Tran is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Tran wants to stand and escape but Lynch is having none of it.

Lynch gets to his feet. Tran looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
A head kick misses from Lynch.
Lynch throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Tran.
Tran really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lynch takes the fight into the clinch.
Tran lands an elbow inside that Lynch shrugs off.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lynch manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Lynch dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Lynch feints and as Tran raises his hands in defense, Lynch changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lynch gets to his feet - Tran follows without any prompting.
Tran misses with a double jab.

Tran gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Lynch breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Tran rushes Lynch and presses him up against the cage.
Lynch keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Tran's efforts to push away.
Tran fails to pull guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tran is trying to break the clinch but Lynch has him pressed against the cage.
Tran tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Lynch avoids it.
A left hand lands to the body for Tran.
Lynch displaying some good clinch control by pressing Tran up against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lynch breaks from the clinch.
Tran wants to clinch up but Lynch keeps it at a distance.
Tran takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Andrew Tran has been cut.
Tran wants to clinch up but Lynch keeps it at a distance.
Tran tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lynch paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tran misses with a series of wild punches.
Lynch lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Tran backs up against the cage.
Tran lands a high kick!
Tran stalks Lynch and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lynch's face. Lynch staggers backwards, shaken.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Lynch shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tran napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tran regains half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tran is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lynch escapes and gets back to his feet.
Tran takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Tran tries to sprawl but Lynch drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Tran is looking for a sweep. Lynch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Lynch gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Tran gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Lynch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tran swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tran being controlled here, momentarily.

Tran isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lynch stacks Tran on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lynch!

Lynch has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lynch trying to control the position but Tran is working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lynch lands an elbow.
Tran seems a little lost for a moment, as Lynch dominates the positioning.

Lynch tries for a kimura but Tran is defending well.
Tran is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Lynch throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Lynch trying to control from half guard but Tran is working away.
Lynch might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tran haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Lynch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Andrew Tran's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


A lazy left from Lynch finds it's target.
Lucas Lynch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tran gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Tran tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Lynch is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Tran buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Tran!! Tran is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Lynch throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lucas Lynch!
A very excited looking Lucas Lynch made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
In defeat, Andrew Tran stepped up to the mic, saying 'Well It Wasn't My Best Fight, But I Will Train Hard To Get Back In The Game And Win My Next Fight.'.
