And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Penny!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penny shoots for a takedown but Holmes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nice sprawl there from Holmes as Penny shoots in.
Penny dives in for a single leg takedown but Holmes sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Holmes seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Bryan Holmes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Penny.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Holmes looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Penny shoots in looking for a takedown but Holmes manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Penny's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Penny shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Holmes sprawls well. Holmes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Penny gets slowly back to his feet.
And Holmes counters with a quick kick to the body but Penny blocks it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Penny tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Holmes defends well and Penny ends up having to push Holmes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
A little feinted left hand from Holmes on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Patrick Penny seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Penny lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Holmes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Holmes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
As Penny backs away, Holmes returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Penny. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Penny pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Holmes seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Penny takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
No joy there for Penny, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Holmes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Penny.
Holmes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Holmes wants it to stay on the feet.

As Penny tries to get set, Holmes tries to push him back and clinch up but Penny manages to avoid the attempt.

Holmes has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Penny is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Well Penny has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
