Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy Reilly! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Shaw! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shaw moves into the clinch. Shaw breaks the clinch.
Shaw fails with the takedown. Chris Shaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shaw shoots in for a takedown but Reilly shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Shaw has Reilly up against the cage in a clinch.
Reilly really is a fat lump. Shaw tries to pull guard but Reilly won't allow it.
Freddy Reilly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Shaw. Reilly breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Shaw has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Reilly is landing a low percentage of strikes. Shaw cracks Reilly with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Reilly looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Shaw finish him?
It looks like Freddy Reilly has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Shaw misses with a series of wild punches.
Reilly shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shaw manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reilly trying to control but Shaw is working from the bottom. Shaw keeping full guard, as Reilly tries to pass. Shaw wants to sweep but no luck. Shaw had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Reilly defends it easily. Reilly avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Reilly trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shaw has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Reilly can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Shaw looks winded!
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Shaw looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Reilly passes into half guard.
Reilly wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shaw keeps working. Reilly is controlling the pace.
Reilly is keen to just control but Shaw is a slippery customer. Reilly perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Shaw is looking to improve his position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Reilly keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Reilly throws a big counter combination but Shaw scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Shaw looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Reilly tries to counter by clinching up but Shaw breaks away and moves out of range. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Shaw fails with the takedown and Reilly counters by clinching up. Reilly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A momentary lapse in concentration from Shaw enables Reilly to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shaw manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Shaw wants to hit a switch here but Reilly passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Shaw there! Reilly controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reilly tries to control but Shaw wriggling away. Reilly takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Shaw bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Reilly lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Reilly got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shaw has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Reilly has managed to get both his arms back between Shaw's legs - danger averted. Reilly is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Reilly trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shaw lands a jab to Reilly's midsection. The fight moves into the clinch position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reilly pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Shaw gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Reilly counters with a one-two to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reilly ducks right into an uppercut from Shaw. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Reilly gets tackled into the cage by Shaw. Shaw maintains the clinch. Reilly manages to break the clinch.
Shaw shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Reilly sprawls well. Reilly wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shaw gets slowly back to his feet. Reilly wants to control from the top but Shaw keeps moving. Reilly will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Shaw is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Reilly is aware though and is defending well. Reilly sitting in guard, not really doing much. Shaw looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Shaw escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reilly gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Freddy Reilly overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Reilly sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shaw's guard. Reilly wants to take a breather but Shaw is having none of it. Shaw trying to hold on to Reilly's head to control him but Reilly postures up.
Shaw wants to get back to his feet.

Reilly is taking a breather. Shaw says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Reilly's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Reilly prevents Shaw from improving his position. Chris Shaw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Reilly decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Reilly shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Reilly showed some decent athleticism there. Shaw tries to get to full guard but Reilly has control of the leg.

Reilly slips a nice elbow through Shaw's hands, connecting with Shaw's forehead. Shaw wants to improve his position but Reilly is controlling well.
Reilly is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Shaw is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
