Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stacy Merrill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stacy Merrill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mitch Marsh! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Merrill bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Mitch Marsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Merrill gets a clinch. Marsh is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Merrill can't fight it off and eventually Marsh manages to take the fight to the floor. Merrill looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Merrill keeping full guard, as Marsh tries to pass. Merrill not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Marsh wants to control from the top but Merrill keeps moving. Merrill pulls Marsh in close to prevent any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marsh postures up and lands a big shot to Merrill's brow. Merrill working a defensive guard here.
Merrill is pulling down on Marsh's head to control his posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marsh has a hand on Merrill's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Merrill takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Merrill can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Marsh is looking to escape. Merrill stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Marsh shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Merrill is trying to defend but Marsh finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marsh is keen to just control but Merrill is a slippery customer. Marsh tries to stand and escape but Merrill is controlling the position. The fighters are battling for position here. Merrill manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Marsh trying to control the position from guard on top but Merrill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Merrill could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Merrill pulls Marsh in to control the position. Marsh passes Merrill's left leg - he's now in half guard. Merrill trying to control here.
Merrill is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Marsh is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Marsh is thwarting Merrill's attempts to control the position. Marsh is trying to control the action in half guard but Merrill is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Merrill trying to control here.

Marsh throws a leg kick that is checked and Merrill counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Marsh darts in and clinches Merrill up against the cage. Marsh has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Merrill uses from the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Merrill wants to control from the top but Marsh keeps moving. Merrill wants to stand but Marsh has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Marsh is pulling down on Merrill's head. It's preventing any offense from Merrill, at least for the moment. Marsh had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Merrill defends it easily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Merrill decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marsh fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Merrill manages to avoid it. Marsh wants to clinch up but Merrill keeps it at a distance. A counter left hand to the body from Merrill misses its target. Marsh tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Merrill manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Merrill is looking to counter the offense by Marsh and move into the clinch. Merrill goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Stacy Merrill is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Marsh throws a shot to the body.

It looks like Stacy Merrill has been cut. Merrill thumps Marsh with a low kick. Merrill tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Marsh manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Merrill is trying to pull guard but Marsh has him pressed against the cage. Marsh taking a breather. Merrill gets control of Marsh's arms and successfully pulls guard. Merrill will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marsh thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Marsh showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Marsh wants to control from the top but Merrill keeps moving. Marsh has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Merrill controlling Marsh's posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Merrill keeping moving, preventing Marsh from controlling successfully. Marsh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Marsh throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Marsh has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Merrill is proving hard to escape from.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Merrill is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Marsh keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stacy Merrill. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marsh is looking to clinch but Merrill is avoiding it.
Marsh decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Marsh missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Marsh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Marsh is stalling in the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Merrill looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Merrill working a defensive guard but Marsh manages to pass into side control anyway.
Merrill can't do much from the bottom here. Marsh controls the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Marsh working the ground and pound. You can see the frustration on Merrill's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Stacy Merrill has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mitch Marsh is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Merrill manages to work his way to half guard, despite Marsh's best efforts.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Mitch Marsh. Well Marsh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
