Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Popoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peter Popoff has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamie Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Popoff!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Popoff closes the distance and clinches up with Patterson, looking for a takedown. Popoff pushes Patterson against the cage but Patterson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Patterson misses with a two punch combination.
Patterson throws a nice looking combination but Popoff bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Popoff shoots in for a double leg but Patterson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Popoff is keen to just control but Patterson is a slippery customer.

I looks like Popoff might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Patterson has control of Popoff's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Popoff regains control of the situation pretty easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Popoff can do anything to dispel that myth.

Patterson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Popoff is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Popoff and Patterson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jamie Patterson.
I think Popoff has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
