Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mario Rodriguez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Teodor Stanimirov! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stanimirov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Stanimirov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Stanimirov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Stanimirov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rodriguez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Rodriguez avoids the head kick by Stanimirov.
Rodriguez is looking for a counter combo. Rodriguez throws a leg kick but Stanimirov moved away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Rodriguez. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Rodriguez. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rodriguez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rodriguez wants it to stay on the feet. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stanimirov is defended easily by Rodriguez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rodriguez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Rodriguez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Stanimirov quickly recovers to half guard. Rodriguez prevents Stanimirov from improving his position. Rodriguez wants to stand up but Stanimirov is controlling the position.

Rodriguez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rodriguez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Rodriguez slows the pace down in half guard. Rodriguez decides to return to a standing position. Rodriguez drives through with a takedown into Stanimirov's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Stanimirov controls Rodriguez momentarily but Rodriguez frees himself. Rodriguez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Rodriguez lands a couple of digs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stanimirov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Rodriguez has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Stanimirov is proving hard to escape from. Rodriguez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Rodriguez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stanimirov works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rodriguez shoots in looking for a takedown. Stanimirov tries to sprawl out of it but Rodriguez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stanimirov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stanimirov is defended easily by Rodriguez.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Stanimirov goes for a double leg but Rodriguez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rodriguez continues to drive forward. Stanimirov forces Rodriguez back against the cage and clinches. A short right hand to the side of the head by Stanimirov. Stanimirov has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rodriguez avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Stanimirov looks winded! Rodriguez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Stanimirov gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Stanimirov throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rodriguez blocks it with crossed arms. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rodriguez is working for takedown but Stanimirov is calmly controlling the position for now. Rodriguez fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Mario Rodriguez dominated that round. The cut man is working on Mario Rodriguez's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Stanimirov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rodriguez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stanimirov somewhat. Stanimirov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rodriguez but Rodriguez pushes him off and we're back to square one. Stanimirov has Rodriguez up against the cage in a clinch.
Rodriguez pulls guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stanimirov has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Rodriguez to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Stanimirov is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Rodriguez pulls down on the head and he's put Stanimirov to sleep! This one is all over!
