Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carrol Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deair Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Deair Shaw has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carrol Johnston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Deair Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnston gets caught flat footed, as Shaw shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Shaw stopping the sweep attempt from Johnston.
Shaw has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnston is proving hard to escape from.
Johnston controls Shaw momentarily but Shaw frees himself.
Shaw sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Johnston's guard.
Shaw looks winded!
Shaw tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Johnston is looking to control Shaw's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnston avoid being mounted?
Johnston could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaw landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.


It looks like Carrol Johnston has been cut.

Shaw looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Johnston is trying to maintain the position but Shaw is very close to passing his half guard.
Shaw is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Johnston wants to improve his position but Shaw is controlling well.

Shaw wants to clinch up but Johnston keeps it at a distance.
Johnston half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Deair Shaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnston will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Shaw rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnston moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A jab from Shaw misses.
Shaw misses with a two punch combination.
Shaw throws out a loose jab but Johnston uses good head movement to avoid it.
Shaw throws a shot from downtown. Johnston moves away and avoids it.
Johnston changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Shaw throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Johnston.
Johnston scores with a one two! Shaw had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Johnston shoots in looking for a takedown but Shaw manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnston's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Johnston manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Shaw on his heels. He'll look to pass Shaw's guard now, I'm sure.
Shaw wants to stand and escape but Johnston is having none of it.

and Johnston counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Shaw throws a right and a left that Johnston avoids nicely.

Shaw shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Johnston napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Johnston is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Shaw has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Shaw stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shaw wants it to stay on the feet.

Shaw fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnston, pushing him back against the cage.

Shaw decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Shaw lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johnston circles away quickly and effectively.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shaw pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Johnston back to the cage. Shaw follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Johnston slips a jab and a cross from Shaw.
Johnston wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Shaw misses with a double jab.
Johnston darts in looking for a takedown but Shaw gets double underhooks and turns Johnston into the cage.

Shaw drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Deair Shaw comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shaw has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
