Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dick Whittaker!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whittaker circles away from the clinch attempt
and Whittaker counters with a nice uppercut.
John Formanczyk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whittaker keeps the fight on the outside.

and Whittaker counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Whittaker tries to pass the half guard into mount. Formanczyk knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Whittaker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Formanczyk tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Whittaker paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Formanczyk has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Whittaker is working away from the top position though.

Whittaker seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Whittaker wants to take a breather but Formanczyk is having none of it.
Whittaker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Formanczyk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Whittaker looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Formanczyk with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Whittaker wants to take a breather but Formanczyk is having none of it.

Whittaker is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Formanczyk is hurt! He's hurt bad - Whittaker fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Formanczyk from any more punishment! Congratulations to Whittaker! Great finish!
