Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sean Sorrowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barao DeSilva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sean Sorrowe!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Barao DeSilva!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sorrowe fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sorrowe tries to close the distance and clinch but DeSilva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
DeSilva lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sorrowe throws a wild body kick that DeSilva sees coming a mile off.
DeSilva is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
DeSilva scores with a shot to the body.
DeSilva lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Sorrowe cracks DeSilva with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
DeSilva throws a solid leg kick but Sorrowe takes the impact on his shin and smiles at DeSilva.

DeSilva drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sorrowe wants to sweep here but DeSilva controlling him for the moment.
Sorrowe avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as DeSilva accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
DeSilva stops Sorrowe from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
DeSilva missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
DeSilva prevents Sorrowe from getting back to his feet.
DeSilva wants to control from the top but Sorrowe keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nice uppercut lands for DeSilva. That snapped Sorrowe's head back.
Sorrowe throws a right hand that DeSilva ducks under and follows up with a left that DeSilva also avoids with ease.
DeSilva unleashes a big counter combination but Sorrowe bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
DeSilva moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Sorrowe rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but DeSilva moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
DeSilva motions for Sorrowe to come forward. DeSilva throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Sorrowe slaps away a takedown attempt from DeSilva, before circling back to the center of the mat.
DeSilva fails with a takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
DeSilva ducks under a wild hook from Sorrowe.
Sorrowe definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Sorrowe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
DeSilva keeps the fight on the outside.
DeSilva connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
DeSilva avoids a punch combination nicely.
No joy there for Sorrowe, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sorrowe lands with a right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
DeSilva shoots in for a takedown but Sorrowe shows good takedown defense.
Sean Sorrowe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barao DeSilva.
Sorrowe misses with the combination.
Sorrowe connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
DeSilva shoots in for a takedown but Sorrowe shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
DeSilva turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Sorrowe tries to bum rush DeSilva with a series of wild strikes but DeSilva uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
DeSilva blocks a leg kick.
And DeSilva tries to counter it with a takedown but Sorrowe pushes his down on his head and steps out.

DeSilva looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Sorrowe!
Sorrowe is not content to let DeSilva control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sorrowe manages to get back to half guard.
DeSilva throwing shots but Sorrowe is blocking nicely.
Sorrowe looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
DeSilva slows the pace down in half guard.
DeSilva is trying to control. Sorrowe wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Sorrowe tries to kick DeSilva off but DeSilva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Sorrowe trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
DeSilva misses the jab.
DeSilva circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sorrowe throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
DeSilva has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Sorrowe wants to clinch up but DeSilva keeps it at a distance.
Sorrowe takes one to the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sorrowe doesn't manage to clinch there - DeSilva circles away.
DeSilva lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Barao DeSilva will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


DeSilva scores with a punch to the head.
DeSilva is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
DeSilva swings away with a body shot that misses

and Sorrowe counters with a crisp one two that drops DeSilva! Sorrowe thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves DeSilva to his feet! DeSilva is in big trouble!


DeSilva is rocked!
Sorrowe goes for a small jab and connects. Now Sorrowe goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! DeSilva stumbles back but Sorrowe runs in with a huge uppercut knocking DeSilva to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if DeSilva will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Sean Sorrowe!
Sean Sorrowe is the new lightweight champion!
