Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eliseo Delgado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Prescot! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Prescot tries to close the distance and clinch up but Delgado swats him away and circles back towards the center. Prescot closes the distance and clinches. Prescot utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Delgado is trying to pull guard but Prescot turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. A battle for position here, against the cage. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Delgado jumps guard but Prescot turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Prescot avoiding damage.
Delgado is trying to pull guard but Prescot has him pressed against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eliseo Delgado. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Prescot jumps into guard, dragging Delgado to the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round. Prescot looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Delgado has picked Prescot up and slammed him! Prescot can't keep hold of the triangle and Delgado manages to pass to side control! Delgado is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Prescot knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Prescot manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Prescot looks winded! Delgado tries to kick Prescot off but Prescot keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Delgado manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Delgado wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Delgado wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Delgado controls Prescot momentarily but Prescot frees himself. Delgado pulls Prescot in close to prevent any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Delgado keeping moving, preventing Prescot from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Prescot won't allow Delgado to sweep him here. Delgado manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Prescot manages to get himself to full guard.
Prescot managing to control the position. Delgado with a flurry of punches that miss. Delgado will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Delgado stands up over Prescot, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Prescot looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Delgado trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Prescot manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Delgado keeping moving, preventing Prescot from controlling successfully. Delgado wriggles free and stands up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Prescot tries to clinch up but Delgado circles away and keeps his distance. Prescot shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Delgado manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Prescot dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Prescot closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Delgado did well to prevent Prescot getting side control. Delgado is positioning himself well to prevent Prescot advancing to mount. Delgado slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Delgado is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Delgado has Prescot pulled in close to control his posture. Prescot is breathing heavily. Prescot stopping the sweep attempt from Delgado.
That's one minute gone in the round. Prescot trying to move into half guard but instead Delgado has managed to sweep! Delgado lands a couple of decent looking shots. Prescot is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Delgado postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Prescot trying to keep a closed guard but Delgado is proving a slippery customer.
Delgado tries to free his leg and advance position but Prescot is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Prescot looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Delgado throwing strikes from guard but Prescot blocks nicely. Delgado drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Delgado jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Delgado postures up in Prescot's guard and throws a big left but Prescot blocks it.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Delgado throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Prescot's waist but Prescot gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Delgado off to one side. Prescot keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Prescot is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Delgado went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Delgado moves in looking to clinch but Prescot pushes him off. Delgado closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Prescot to the mat! Prescot manages to get full guard. Prescot is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Delgado stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Prescot swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Prescot is trying to keep Delgado in close.
Delgado lands a couple of digs. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Delgado postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Prescot misses the jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Prescot forces his way into half guard. Prescot content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Prescot working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Delgado's thigh. Delgado counters though and makes it back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Delgado is pulling down on Prescot's head to control his posture. Prescot takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Delgado wants to stand up but Prescot is controlling him. Delgado seems keen to control Prescot's posture. Prescot with a flurry of punches that miss. Delgado is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Prescot slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Prescot swats away the attempt to clinch by Delgado.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Prescot tries to work over Delgado's front leg with a kick but Delgado checks it. Delgado shoots in for a takedown but Prescot shows good takedown defense. Prescot looks to score with a jab to the body but Delgado is just out of range. Delgado checks a low kick from Prescot. Delgado appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Eliseo Delgado is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sloppy strikes from Prescot. Those never looked like landing. Prescot wants to clinch. Delgado throws a quick counter kick to the body but Prescot avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Prescot fails with an attempt to clinch.
Delgado fires out a quick counter leg kick but Prescot just manages to avoid it. Prescot changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Delgado looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Delgado wants to control but Prescot postures up. Delgado tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Prescot wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Prescot wants to control but Delgado is keeping him busy. Prescot wants to stand but Delgado has his arm trapped. Delgado is looking for a sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Delgado can't do much from the bottom here. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Prescot stands up and we're back to a striking position. Delgado really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Delgado looks for a takedown but Prescot sprawls well. Delgado shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Prescot defends it nicely.
And that's the end of the fight! John Prescot comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Prescot has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
