The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones is looking to clinch but Ruas is avoiding it.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.
Bernard Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ruas.
Ruas takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Jones throws a right hand that Ruas ducks under and follows up with a left that Ruas also avoids with ease.

Ruas is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jones is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jones has escaped and now he's on top!
Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ruas is proving hard to escape from.

Ruas wants to sweep but no luck.

Ruas looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jones has picked Ruas up and slammed him! Ruas can't keep hold of the triangle and Jones manages to pass to side control!

Jones throws a right and a left that Ruas avoids nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jones throws a leg kick but Ruas moved away.
Ruas tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily
and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Ruas.
Bernard Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Ruas.
Ruas blocks a head kick by Jones.
Ruas throws a quick inside leg kick.
Ruas throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Ruas fails to land the takedown.
Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ruas, pushing him back against the cage.

Ruas jumps guard but Jones stands there with Ruas around his waist. Ruas gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jones's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Ruas can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.

Ruas misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
