Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tim Duggan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adriano Ribeiro! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duggan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Ribeiro is trying to get back to his feet. Duggan working the head with strikes. Duggan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Duggan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ribeiro is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ribeiro is working to avoid the ground and pound but Duggan connects with a decent elbow. Duggan prevents Ribeiro from escaping the position. Ribeiro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duggan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Duggan working the head and body with strikes. Duggan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Duggan looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. This has been an exciting period of action! Duggan prevents Ribeiro from escaping the position. Ribeiro looks gassed! Ribeiro is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duggan lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ribeiro down.
Duggan grinds an elbow into Ribeiro's temple. Duggan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Duggan lands a few punches from side control. Ribeiro is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Duggan asserts his dominance and retains side control. Ribeiro stops Duggan from passing to mount. Duggan lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Duggan.

Ribeiro throws a head kick that misses. Duggan is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Duggan wants to clinch up but Ribeiro keeps it at a distance. Ribeiro is looking to clinch. Duggan rushes Ribeiro and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Ribeiro landing some nice looking knees to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Duggan on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Ribeiro is trying to break the clinch but Duggan has him pressed against the cage. Duggan tries for a takedown. No joy.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Ribeiro. Ribeiro has had enough of the clinch but Duggan keeps him there for the moment. Duggan has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ribeiro regains guard immediately. Duggan won't allow Ribeiro to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tim Duggan dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Duggan thuds his shin into the meat of Ribeiro's side. Ribeiro tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Duggan tries to clinch up but Ribeiro circles away and keeps his distance. Ribeiro is looking to clinch but Duggan is avoiding it.

Ribeiro clinches but Duggan breaks the clinch and Duggan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Duggan. Ribeiro is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Duggan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Duggan content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ribeiro wants to stand up but Duggan is controlling him. Ribeiro utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Duggan works over Ribeiro with some ground and pound from guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Duggan cracks Ribeiro with a solid left hand. Duggan prevents Ribeiro from getting back to his feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Ribeiro tries to clinch but fails miserably and Duggan counters by moving into the clinch. Duggan tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Duggan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ribeiro throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
