Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Slick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Remy Lava (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lava is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Numero 1. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Slick! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Remy Lava! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lava scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Slick doesn't seem bothered though. Lava missing with a left hand there. Slick was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Lava lands an overhand right.
It looks like Nick Slick has been cut. Lava scores with a three punch combo!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lava throws a big shot that misses. Lava waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Slick. Lava missing with a left hand there. Slick was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Slick has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Lava has passed into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Slick tries to reverse the position but Lava maintains control. Slick is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Slick is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Slick wants to hold on but Lava pushes him away. Slick is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Lava gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Lava slips a jab from Slick. Lava throws a good cross that connects.
No joy there for Lava, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Remy Lava is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Lava scores with a sloppy right hand. Slick should have avoided that one. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slick throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lava's waist but Lava gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Slick off to one side. Lava throws a big shot that misses. Nick Slick is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Lava fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slick manages to avoid it. Slick moves out of range as Lava strikes.

Slick gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Lava tries to bum rush Slick with a series of wild strikes but Slick uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Lava throws a series of punches but Slick moves out of range. A head kick misses from Lava. Slick closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Slick lands in his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slick trying to control but Lava is working from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lava is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Slick working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Lava wants to get back to his feet but Slick is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Slick pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lava is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Slick accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Slick has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Slick trying to control but Lava is working from the bottom. Slick pushing down on Lava's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Slick is looking to stall here but Lava recovers full guard. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Lava throws a looping overhand right but Slick ducks down to avoid it. Lava throws a right and a left that Slick avoids nicely. Lava throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lava lands with a hook. Slick tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Slick shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lava as he jumps to the side. Lava throws a sloppy head kick and Slick moves out of range easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Slick takes a shot right to the bread basket. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Slick shoots in looking for a takedown. Lava tries to sprawl out of it but Slick keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lava manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Slick shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lava as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Slick. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lava lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Slick tries to pass to full mount but Lava defends it. Slick seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Slick is looking to take a break and control but Lava is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Slick is really struggling to control Lava but he's trying to hold on to the position. Slick trying to control from Lava's half guard. Lava has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Lava is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Lava pushes Slick off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Remy Lava seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lava throws a right and a left that both miss. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Slick moves out of range as Lava strikes. Lava throws a left and a right that both miss
so Slick counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Slick is looking to advance position but Lava has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Slick tries to hold on but Lava postures up.

Slick has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Slick shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lava as he avoids it easily. Lava misses with a low kick as Slick jumps back. Lava misses with the body kick and Slick counters with a nice double leg into guard. Slick wants to control from the top but Lava keeps moving. Slick is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lava is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Slick controls from within his opponent's guard. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Slick postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Slick is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Slick looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Lava puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Remy Lava has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
