Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Prince Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Ready to Fall as his entrance music. Prince Edgar has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Prince Edgar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Andrew Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edgar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Edgar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jackson is looking to escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson throws a head kick but Edgar moves out of range.
Jackson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Edgar.
Edgar appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Edgar slips a straight right by Jackson.
Jackson misses with a hook.
Jackson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Andrew Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Edgar tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jackson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jackson swings widly with a right hand

and Edgar counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Edgar engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Edgar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Edgar passes Jackson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Jackson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Edgar slows the pace down in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Edgar wants to work for an arm triangle but Jackson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Edgar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jackson throws a nice head kick!

It looks like Prince Edgar has been cut.
Edgar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jackson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jackson connects with a nice looking jab.
Jackson throws an overhand right that lands on Edgar's shoulder, as Edgar tries to avoid the shot.
Prince Edgar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A combination from Jackson does no damage.
Edgar appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Jackson stalks Edgar and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Edgar's face. Edgar staggers backwards, shaken.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A slapping leg kick lands for Jackson.
Jackson throws a head kick but Edgar moves out of range.

and Edgar counters with a left and a right that stings Jackson.

Edgar checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Edgar went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Edgar rushes Jackson and presses him up against the cage.
Edgar blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Jackson manages to break the clinch.
Jackson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Edgar.
Jackson slaps away a takedown attempt from Edgar, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jackson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Edgar's sensitive parts.

Edgar closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jackson to the mat! Jackson manages to get full guard.
Edgar looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Edgar passes Jackson's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Edgar is looking to advance position but Jackson won't allow it.
Edgar content to control rather than advance.
Edgar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.

Still in half guard, Edgar seems content to control.
Edgar works his way into side control.
Jackson is looking for a sweep.
Edgar moves into full mount!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Edgar has control of Jackson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jackson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

A close second round but Andrew Jackson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Prince Edgar's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Edgar takes the fight into the clinch.

Edgar is trying to trip Jackson. He has hold of a leg but Jackson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Edgar persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Edgar lands a couple of elbows.
Edgar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Edgar pushes down on Jackson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Edgar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Edgar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Still in half guard, Edgar seems content to control.
Edgar has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Edgar controlling the position easily from mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Prince Edgar showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Edgar has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
