Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shane Doby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter McBain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doby's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, International Players Anthem. McBain has chosen Harder Than You Think by Public Enemy as his entrance music. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Doby! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Peter McBain! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doby swings widly with a right hand
enabling McBain to counter with a crisp jab. Doby closes this distance looking for a takedown but McBain circles away. Doby takes a shot to the body in his stride.
McBain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Doby moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Doby tries to work over McBain's front leg with a kick but McBain checks it. McBain keeps the fight on the outside. Doby throws a lazy right hand but McBain sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Doby falls off balance throwing a combination
and McBain counters with a one-two to the body. Doby takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Some wild striking there from McBain.

McBain is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Doby. This has been an exciting period of action! McBain throws a right hand that Doby ducks under and follows up with a left that Doby also avoids with ease. Doby looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for McBain! McBain is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doby misses with an attempted head punch from side control. McBain tries to escape but Doby is in control. Doby scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at McBain to see if he's OK. Doby misses with an attempted head punch from side control. We've been hearing good reports from Doby's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Doby controlling the position. Doby is trying to ground and pound but McBain uses the momentary lack of control by Doby to regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Doby is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
McBain keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Doby is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McBain sees it coming and defends easily. McBain has one foot on Doby's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. McBain slips a jab and a cross from Doby.

That's three minutes gone in the round. McBain shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Doby eats them both and turns towards McBain to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Some wild striking there from McBain.
McBain wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Doby lands a nice shot that snaps McBain's head back.
McBain drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Doby misses the jab. Doby shoots in looking for a takedown but McBain manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Doby's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. McBain lands with a straight right. Doby didn't see that one coming. A slow jab from Doby misses its intended target. Doby takes a swing at McBain's ribcage but misses. Horrible takedown attempt by Doby or perhaps it was just good defense by McBain, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Doby. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McBain lands a two punch combo.

You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of McBain. Doby takes a swing at McBain's ribcage but misses. Doby ducks right into an uppercut from McBain. McBain connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Doby momentarily.

McBain is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Doby had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Doby shoots in looking for a takedown. McBain tries to sprawl out of it but Doby keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McBain manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Doby motions for McBain to come forward. Doby throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. McBain unleashes a big counter combination but Doby bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Peter McBain dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
McBain blocks a jab. McBain throws a combination. Doby tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Doby misses with a takedown attempt - McBain sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Sloppy strikes from McBain. Those never looked like landing. Doby changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Doby waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McBain. McBain scores with a crisp jab that stopped Doby in his tracks. Doby tries to work over McBain's front leg with a kick but McBain checks it. McBain with a jab. McBain might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Doby avoids a punch combination nicely.
Doby dives in and grabs McBain's left leg, looking for a takedown. McBain pushes down on Doby's head and hops out. McBain blocks a leg kick. Doby shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Doby. That's going to take a lot out of him. McBain scores with a one two! Doby had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McBain scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

McBain moves into range and connects with a jab. Doby tries to score a power double leg takedown but McBain sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Doby somewhat. McBain avoids a lazy jab quite easily. McBain throws a head kick that misses. McBain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Doby throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McBain stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Doby showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McBain.

McBain keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. McBain lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Nice sprawl there from McBain as Doby shoots in. No joy there for McBain, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Doby uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McBain has time to react. McBain tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. McBain misses with a jab, cross combination.
Doby drops down looking for a counter takedown but McBain sprawls and moves away. Doby misses with a shot to the body and McBain cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. McBain staying out of range there. Doby thows a left - swing and a miss! McBain misses with a series of wild punches.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Doby uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McBain.

McBain swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Doby tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McBain swivels and escapes. McBain is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. McBain lands a two punch combo.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. McBain displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Doby. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McBain pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Doby scoring with strikes to the body and head. Doby is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Doby thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McBain's head. McBain has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Doby is on him like a limpet, forcing McBain back against the cage. McBain manages to break the clinch.

McBain has been the more effective fighter overall so far. McBain staying out of range there. Doby closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Doby stops McBain from getting back to his feet.
